who is my dragon friend drakien ^.^ a wonderful dragon. but any way, that was the company that made it for him, but 2k is a bit high o.o for my price range, was thinking i could possible create my own with the help of others.
Its alright, ^.^ it actually has helped me get a little bit of a better idea on where to start looking, i will start looking forward to going to the sites that you have offered me and maybe get a commission from an artist for a lay out of the costume and go from there, still many idea buzzing around ^.^ so i hope to get them all worked out. thank you again!
As for the fursuit reference, you don't even have to be the best artist to submit a reference to a professional maker (Unless your suit is extremely complicated). Even in that case, you can simply explain it.
After all, this: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/3462068/
Got turned into this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3679761
*laughs* Oh, indeed. A good reference needn't be good art; it's about communicating to artists what they need to illustrate.
Still, that's a charming example.

Whiro, I understand that you want to make a fursuit for yourself, but I wholeheartedly recommend at least attempting it for yourself the first time around. There are things experience can teach you a lot better than someone showing you how can. There are lots and LOTS of tutorials lying around, with all the questions asked as to supplies, suppliers, and methods. I can give you a few links to start:
community.livejournal.com/fursuit : This is the go-to place, the Fursuit community on Livejournal. If you look in the Memories section, there are fur suppliers, professional fursuit makers, artists that can do fursuit reference art, and a consolidated list of posts asked by users, ranging from paws and beaks to sewing machines and antibacterial sprays.
matrices.net : A huge resource of tutorials for heads, paws, tails, digitigrade padding, and more.
If you still feel like you shouldn't go it alone, enlist the help of a friend, even if they haven't done something like this before. At least they'll be in the same boat as you! After all, two heads are better than one.
Even after that, and you've experimented and tested and asked the fine folks here in the fursuit construction threads and in the fursuit comm for online guidance, you can try to call out to an experienced fursuit maker in your area. Just by googling I found a couple of sites for Florida furries:
Floridafurs.com
furries.meetup.com/cities/us/fl

Edit: And of course, I realize too late that this thread is very old..I hope it can be of use anyway.
