May possibly be crossing the border with fursuit on Greyhound
Ok, I have a question, I was to have a friend drive me to Rochester, however since his meds are being changed on the 24th he isn't able to drive me, and I may have to resort to taking the Greyhound from Niagara Falls to Rochester for a rideshare on the 30th of June to meet up with a furry who is going to Pittsburgh on the 1st.
What should I tell Customs when they see the fursuit?
Yep, I remember sitting at the representing the fandom seminar at FCN, I will tell them that, if they need to get into specifics, I will say Anthrocon in Pittsburgh tomorrow as I will be leaving from Rochester.
If worst comes to worst they will probably laugh or make a joke about Sylvester and Tweety.
One more question , kinda related to the greyhound and whatnot, since going over the border on the greyhound, customs asks everyone where they are going and what they are doing, should I tell Customs the name(s) of those whom I am staying with in Rochester, before I go to Pittsburgh the next day? Just to make sure things go smoothly there.
Thanks.
I'd just say "My friends in Rochester." Or "My family in Rochester." unless they ask specifically for the names.
If they do, say "I'm staying with Jeff and Suzie.", not "I'm staying with PurpleWolf and Cyberclawz."
What UncleKage and Chiaroscuro said!
As a general rule, it is always best when dealing with Customs Officers, Immigration Control, Passport Control, MI-5, etc, to answer the specific question asked, in a polite, truthful and unevasive manner - without answering questions which were not asked.
Be open, honest, and forthright - but don't volunteer anything. You are involved in an honest activity, and have no real reason to fear these people - and shouldn't be generating vibes which would suggest otherwise.
I have one more question in regards to this; my friend is coming with me to AC, but he is sharing a room with his friends (the hotel reservation isn't in his name) and I was wondering if we will have any problems at the border because of that.
Thanks.
I'd advise you to NOT cross with a fursuit at all. Do everything to keep your image "normal"-looking. Especially since security can be very nosy (sometimes necessary), it's best to not come across as strange.
I think the original poster had no trouble with this, since it occurred more than a year ago and we heard nothing since.
It's generally considered bad form to resurrect old topics unless there is a current issue which makes them relevent again. Please check the posting dates before following up on a discussion.

You tell them that it is a costume and that you're going to a cartoon convention where a lot of people bring costumes. It is not for sale and it will be returning with you to Canada.
That is assuming they even bother to ask.
