I'm curious, where AC07 is set for July 5th-8th, alot tend to fly in the day before, this year, the day before the con will be the 4th of July, would anyone know by experience if flying in on a US holiday will have a major impact on flight costs and passanger traffic etc for people flying in from outside the US? -RappyRaptor |

First off I love your new Avatar. Second 4th of july rates may be slightly more expensive, but I doubt it will be much if you book early. The 4th does not see the massve increase in traffic that some of the US's holidays do. I hope to catch up with you again this year.

Also!! If you fly on July 4th expect security to take long, many airports here are extra picky when its a US holiday.

I was checking to see what the costs of a two way airplane ticket would cost, and it is only 199 dollars (that was when i checked in the summer). Now it might not be so cheap.

You might want to try FareCast and see how prices are affected over time.

As a computer programmer, that's understandable.
What they're doing -- fare forecasting, is totally non-trivial to do. So it makes sense that they'd just start with domestic airports, because that's an easier problem to solve.
Once they get international, then they have tarrifs, customs, and other fun things to take into account. Though I hope they do go international someday. I'd sure like to visit Europe again.

permalinkWe met and hung out a bit last year. I had a different name though. I am Exkhanibers roommate. The one who had the rather boring room party. At least it left more booze for me to drink LOL.

If you have any leftover booze this year, I stand ready to assist! (I believe the Dorsai will gladly help, too.)

permalinkActually I used it all to kill the Post Con depression Sunday night. Believe it, or not the hangover was less painful.
I will be bringing booze again this year, but as of yet have no party in mind. Although if you see me, feel free to ask when I will be in my room, and I will be happy to share some with con staff, and honored guests. Kage, and 2 are the only folks I have booze donations planned for in advance.

The 4th of July is a great time to fly if you do it during the night. Might not be so good for sleep, but you'll get a bird's eye view of the fireworks!
Request a window seat! At least I think that they'll let you do that...
