Anthrocon features some of the most talented DJs in the Furry Fandom, but who are they really? We'll be taking some time in the weeks running up to the convention to let you know, in their own words, what makes them tick and what you can expect from their sets.

This week we're turning our attention to a long time veteran of the Anthrocon dances who never fails to bring the noize, Rigel!

Fandom Name: Rigel
Genres Played: Funk, House, Old School
DJ Style: CDs

Biography:

Day 37: I hope my messages are reaching Earth. My mobile is almost out of charge. They finally figured out how to open the luggage and found the CDs. They thought it was data, but the music changed their behavior - suddenly they seemed desperate. Their claws pulled at the tattered remnants of my shirt. I had to promise them more of it, but only if they'd let me go. The globe projected over the main console was focused on North America, the east coast. When I pointed to it, their tails became frenetic in motion and I could tell by the change in G's that the ship was turning around. Judging by what I can make of our speed and how they've been eyeing the map, I think we'll reach Earth again in early July, somewhere around Pennsylvania. I'm coming back...and so are they. Maybe they like funky house. [LOW BATTERY]

Rigel has been performing as a DJ at furry conventions since 2000. His interests have ranged widely from eclectic world music from London's Whirl-Y-Gig, to hard euro trance, to easy listening jazzy lounge from DC's Eighteenth Street. The one element that unites all his selections is that they must be fun to listen to and a joy to dance to. He prefers tunes that feature a quirk - something recognizable or a catchy riff that you can resist moving to. Listen closely, as his tracks are handpicked and coordinated to make you light up and smile, whether it's with a wacky beat, a peppy rhythm, a funny hook, or a familiar sample. He straddles the line between fursuit cheekiness and serious storming. Come join the party to laugh, dance, and be delighted - the aim of the game is fun.

Keep your eyes peeled next week when we point the spotlight at the European sensation, Big Blue Fox!
