While Anthrocon officially begins on Friday, July 3, most of our folks are already in town on Thursday. We encourage our attendees to get together and meet with one another (though preferably not in the hotel lobby, which gets pretty crowded otherwise). It's your perfect chance to chat face-to-face with that friend from the other side of the world that you've been texting for the last year or more.
Of course, if you are looking for a more active evening, here are a few events that we have planned that we hope will have broad appeal to our attendees:
ANTHROCON'S THURSDAY MIXER (7 PM to 11 PM): We'll bring a big plate of cookies into The Zoo to entice folks to come in and mingle. This is a great opportunity to meet up with those folks you have not had a chance to see for the past year.
DANCES (starting 9 PM): Grab your glow sticks and come rock out with some of Furry Fandom's finest DJ's in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom.
"SOUNDS OF THE 70'S" AT THE CLO (7:30): Looking for something different? Pittsburgh's CLO Cabaret just down the road is pleased to present FURRY NIGHT, July 2 at 7:30pm in conjunction with their new show, 8-TRACK, The Sounds of the 70’s. Tickets are at a discounted rate of $25.50 (regular price is $43.00) and can be purchased by calling 412-325-1582 or emailing ajones(at)pittsburghclo.org and
mentioning ANTHROCON.
"TO ABSENT FRIENDS" (7 PM): We're offering a bit of space in the Convention Center for folks to get together and share a wistful memory or two of some of our Furry friends who will not be joining us again but who will always live on in our hearts.
And if you sleep late and do not wake up until Friday, don't forget that August Henry's is hosting a special Furry Karaoke event Friday night from 10 PM to 2 AM. (Hey, Mr. Ranting Gryphon! They're selling $5 martinis until midnight!)
That better be a REALLY big plate of cookies - I've seen how fast food in to zoo goes D:
I'm impressed - but I will still try to make sure to get to there a little earlier. I still think it'll all be gone with in an hour.
Mmm sickly delish. Looks good on the outside, but how many people have touched those cookies by time the picture was taken?? XD
I know, what a stupid comment, right!?
I look forward to it. Its gonna be a lot of fun, I remember last year where a lot of people were just hanging in the lobby.
Bar 11 on pittsburghs south side os a great anthro friendly bar and is always a great time especially on weekends!!!!!!
What do you mean by 'anthro-friendly?'

It means that he is advertising, and that his bar wants our business.
First the flag-holder belt guy and now a bar.
Unless someone else showed up and had their posts deleted, the only person "advertising" flag-holder belts has been a fellow fur who's placing a bulk order. Not quite the same thing.
Wait, is he buying them for us then?
If so then fine, but the one about the bar is definitely an ad.
Trust me, there are many other people who attempt to advertise that you never see because the admins delete their postings and ban them very quickly. I'm not the one that makes the final call, but I'd guess that this guy's posts were left up because they're by a local business trying to reach out to Anthrocon's attendees (even if the bar is two miles away from the Westin, across the river - good luck with that!).
