Hi, I'm 15 years old and I just found out about Anthrocon and the other Furry Conventions. I was just wondering, since I am under 18, would I have to bring my parent with me to the convention, or do I just have that signed slip that says I can go without them. Also, I can volunteer there as long as I have the slip too, right?

I know that this question has probably been answered before, but I just want to confirm it, just in case I mess up something or whatnot, heh.

Thank you. Smiling

You do not need to bring a parent along, so long as you have a signed and notarized copy of our minor consent form. That being said, people do bring their parents along to the con on a pretty regular basis.

For volunteering, your parents will need to sign the volunteer form, located here and it will need to be brought along with you.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I started to take an interest in this, I'm just hoping that I can save up enough money to even get a plane ride out of California to go to Pittsburgh, haha ><

I might not make it this year, but I'll try to, even if it means having to share a room, XD

Oh, I've got one more question:

I may or may not have a fursuit by July, but if I do, would I need some sort of "fursona" or whatever? XD

Sorry, I'm totally new to this.

No, you do not need a fursona.

all you need to do is just be you. you dont need to have a fursona, tho its always interesting to see what people decide to be. my self, i always knew that i was closer to dogs than any ohter type of animal. for the longest time i thought i was a german shepard, then it dawned on me that i loved to holw. i was a wolf! i realized that about when i was 8 or 9. so its really up to you what or who you want your fursona to be. just be your self and im sure u'll know what creature you most feel like. ^w^

So, I'm hoping to be able to get a Wolf Fursuit.

Hello, Shoji, and welcome to the world of Furry Conventions!

In reading your questions, it is a little unclear as to whether you are going to get a wolf fursuit to bring with you, or if you hope to buy a wolf fursuit when you arrive.

First - Fursuits, as spectacular as they are, are _not_ a requirement to be a Furry, or to attend a Furry Convention. Many of us do not have fursuits! And while we may watch those who do and who come to display and perform for us with envy, they are generally something that is a very serious expenditure and commitment to be making, just for attending conventions.

Fursuits are expensive to buy, and expensive to maintain. While there are professional 'suiters out there who make suits for others - usually as a commission, for a tailor-made suit - the path that most perspective 'suiters take is to "build your own". There are a lot of instruction panels at Furry Conventions dedicated just to showing folks all the different sides and tricks and techniques to making their own fursuit, or at least what to look for when choosing a suitmaker, or buying a pre-made or pre-owned suit. It is an art unto itself, and you might wish to consider choosing this path, before making a purchase.

Myself, I would want to go to a convention or two, and see others in their suits, ask questions, attend the panels before deciding that I need a suit, but that is just me.

Anyway - feel free to come, just do not feel obligated to have a suit for your first convention - you are welcome _as_you_are_, so long as you have an interest in anthropomorphic animals and their stories!

Meh. It gets too hot inside a fursuit anyway.
