Maybe make the con longer? No, 3 days is all I can take. But I found that spending an entire day suiting sort of means you don't get to do actual con stuff so Saturday was a bit of a rush for me. Now that AC has become such a televised even, are we going to start getting sponsors? Like having a couple big tubs of Gatorade in the headless lounge with their posters hanging around the room?
Also, could the con post elevator instructions inside the elevators? Such as informing folks to push the close doors button asap after some one steps off? It would solve a lot of the wait issues if people weren't waiting for the doors to close on their own every floor.
I missed not having a super sponsor lounge a little as it was nice to flop and eat some where but I think the free meal slips were a good trade off and helped get people out to the local businesses.
While having AC on the 4th is fun and all, it pinches it between Canada Day (1st) and the 4th of July of course. This makes mailing/shipping a little bit of a pain not to mention the entire city being shut down on the weekend.
All in all I enjoyed myself and had a better time suiting then I thought I was going to. Knowing when the media was going to be around the hotel would have been nice though.
The 'close door' button worked instantly every time I tried it. I was surprised, because it didn't work in previous years or at any other hotel I've been to. I am equally surprised that you didn't witness this change. Maybe I was hallucinating or it was just a REALLY unlikely coincidence that the doors were closing when I hit close door every time. But I'm pretty sure the buttons were working
I was told by one of the Marriot hotel employees that the close door button didn't do anything unless you were a firefighter operating it manually or something.
I'm pretty sure it worked. Specially when I was standing in the elevator beside Uncle Kage who was pushing it and saying if more people hit it that it would solve the long lines in the lobby problem.
The only problems I saw with the elevators this year, were that one of the convention center ones went broke halfway through the con,
and some jerk signed his name in magic marker in one of the Westin elevators. (If you know who did this please report them)
Most of the time they seemed to be working better this year -- long lines but they moved pretty fast.
Oh yea...They also need to replace the burnt out bulbs so we know what floor the doors opened to. Lots were burnt out.

From what I understand from hearing the Dorsai discuss it while in the elevator line, the lightbulbs were not burnt out. Rather, someone thought it would be funny to unscrew them sufficiently for them to turn off.

It was the number lights that were out this time, rather than the illuminating ones. I think the panel needs to come off to loosen those, so they were probably just out.
Next year Anthrocon shall be held from June 24-27th, to note.
We do have sponsors! Quite a few in fact, tho I don't remember the registration numbers off the top of my head
Also, we have on occasion worked out deals for printing discounts and such, sort of mutual business relationships, but that is usually kept within the fannish, if not furry, community.
If you're asking if we are going to sell out to large consumer brand names outside of fandom, I think the answer is "Not Likely". I can't speak for the entire board of directors, but my personal vote on such a thing would be no.

It would depend on its impact on Anthrocon's not-for-profit status, I think. If there's any possibility that it would make Anthrocon taxable, it almost definitely would not happen.

Probably not. The hotels are very conscious (and limiting) where signs are concerned. Also, the 'close door' button didn't work on any elevator I ever got on. There's no use in putting up signs when the buttons don't work...
