permalinkI was looking at flights out of Minneapolis. You can get them as low as 240 dollars.
It's a very good price.

permalinkActually I found that by driving (I'm from West WI), I can get to AC and back for as little as $400-$500.
Driving: (1571 Miles, 40 MPG, $3.25 / gallon)
11 hours 17 mins / from Eau Claire
(miles*gas/MPG = 127.64)
$130 (single) $65 (duo) $33 (quad)
(4 people, 4 days at con, $10/day parking, just add another $10 to each person to help pay for the hotel parking)
So if 4 people split the cost of gas driving to Pittsburg, depedent on price of gas and mileage of course, it's incredibly cheaper than flying by plane. Of course it also takes about a day to get there.
and just some more info:
Amtrak - Minneapolis to Pittsburgh: $232
(Note: I did all of these calculations several months ago, so I'll probably have to redo them, but I believe that the principle is still there).
Edit: BROOKINGS!? No wonder you're looking into plane tickets. @_@;;

permalinkI drove last year. And the two years before I drove from Virginia. (Which is actually only 8 hours to Philly, not a bad drive.)
And the "takes a day" is why I'm flying this year. I imagine if I had another person or two in the car with me I could do driving, but I was solo last year and it just darn near killed me driving that alone twice. (Having the week before driven VA to SD)

permalinkThat's a killer. Friends and I have done drives to Florida in anywhere between 23-26 hours.
But I'll be driving because for me it's cheaper and I'm all about ambition and determination (some of the time).
EDIT: Anyone up for a convoy or wagon train?
