Who Else Will be Driving a rediculous distane?
Came to my First Event with 2 friends in a 20 year old half destroyed truck, 1300 miles each way... and worth every long hour behind the wheel! Went back with a FYIAD sticker proudly slapped on the tailgate!
Just curious about others driving 1000 miles or more and what they plan to brave it in!
Driving in from Flower Mound Texas with a friend and my sister in law. projected time of 20 hours, my friend says he can cut it to 15.
He will NOT be driving...
Although, everyone should go on a road trip at the end of their senior year of high school, just for the hell of it.
If you average 60mph for 20 hours, hes talking a average of 90 !!!
*cough cough cough* dangerous, illegal, and will add 25% to the gas bill. "Friend" should be strapped as far away from the drivers seat as possible
contrary to popular belief, the faster a car is going the safer it is. It's a very complex science based on the theory of relativity and some other complicated calculations but science shows that once a car reaches 200mph it instantly achieves 100% efficiency as a system and is capable of simply 'passing through' obstructions rather than colliding with them.
don't bother looking it up, just trust me. i'm a scientist.
Only 401 miles over about 6.5 hours for me. I suppose that's not so bad compared to the drive for people from across the country, or those who come from half way around the world.
really? im only about 4 or 5 hours away
We had a 9 hour drive from Wisconsin. But we also had people switching off at every various gas stop. We left early to avoid traffic in chicago, and we completly missed it. Still tok 9 hours...but even after that? Wasen't tired at all as I registered at anthrocon! ^ ^
Yeah, Wisconsin to Pittsburgh is a bit of a haul. Glad you made it! Driving or Amtrak were looking like options this year until Delta gave me a $400 flight voucher for botching my way home from AC09.
I love flying...as if, given my fursona, you couldn't have guessed that. ;P
And next year, try and Preregister to save money and time at the con! Why waste all that energy standing in the registration line instead of enjoying the con?
Er...haha! Well..I DID pre-register...I just went with a few friends who didn't, and being nice I waited in line with them ^ ^ I also forgot my photo ID! O.O So I had to go get it from my hotel anyhow! xD But that was my mistake, my friends mistake was not pre-registering like this smart horse! ^ ^ (albeit the forgetting part <.<...>.>...)
i dont think its exactly ridiculous, but we drive 5 1/2 hours... its quite a hike, specially since usually im the ONLY driver x.x
Not exactly the longest distance for me, but 7 gallons of gas, 235 miles and 4 hours and I'm the only one going, so I'm the only driver.
Worst part of it for me is the time spent driving by myself
, though this coming year brother's coming along to meet up with an old friend that happens to live in Pittsburgh. So the 4 hours won't be so bad this time around.
Lionman
in 2010 me and mah dad will be driving 8 hours and 45 min, from Cheshire, MA to Pittsburgh, PA
Ah well I guess I have it made. I'm only about two towns away. The only thing thats stoping me is the fact that I have no one to go with. *Sad face*
aw i wish i could go with you!
I live in the tip of the northern panhandle in West Virginia, It's only a 45 minute drive!
I plan on driving there with my boyfriend as well as my brother and another friend in 2011. Estimated driving time is 10 hours, possibly even more because we may be meeting up with someone else on the way :U Not too bad I guess, compared to some of you guys' driving times. x: I'll be driving from Billerica, MA. Which is just northeast of Boston.

My mate, son and I drove about 1420 miles each way for 2009 (Colorado Springs to Pittsburgh). Plan to do it again if we can go in 2010. We took my 2006 Saturn Ion.
