Does anybody else have frequent dreams of fursuiters and furry conventions? Last night I had yet another dream like that. I was at a place that was a sort of a combination of my workplace (offices, compared to the factory where I really work) and a convention center. I perceived it as being at work, but shortly after getting there I was searching around for a bathroom as if I was totally unfamiliar with the place. When I was by the big glass doors and windows at the far end of the building I saw about 8 or 10 fursuiters going outside, walking among the non-fursuit building occupants. I caught up with one of them outside to see what they were all doing there (it's not convention time), and the person inside turned out to be a former coworker. She said they were just there for a little get-together. Shortly afterwards the dream ended.

In the last several months I've had many dreams of fursuiters and/or being at a convention or at a place that holds conventions but there are still fursuiters around despite a con not taking place. Of course they're always pleasant dreams because it's like, "cool, fursuits!". How about you all?

Like clockwork. See also http://www.anthrocon.org/node/584.

In fact, I had a particularly stressful dream about the con last night.

Having read all those dreams about the Westin and convention center being torn down, turned into a shopping mall, or filled with people for another convention after the con, my mind started to wander and I thought up what could be the all-time worst Anthrocon nightmare:

You get there and Anthrocon is like an Amway seller's meeting where you pay $50 to sit in a big auditorium for 4 hours or more without any sort of break, watching slide shows of rich peoples' lavish vacations and hearing gay-bashing speeches by the people at the top of the pyramid [scheme].

I can only hope above hope nobody ever has a dream like that. The worst part is what I just described about such a meeting takes details from two events that actually happened!

About once every two months.

Amusingly earlier this year my brain threw me for a loop and gave me a Furfright dream the week before Anthrocon.

Since I started in the fandom more and more of the characters in my dreams have been furries.
Sometimes their being animal people is important to the plot and sometimes I barely notice.

I have had various dreams about AC, they usually start about a week before the con itself. Weirdest one to date involved me, Doc Emmet Brown (and the Deloran) being parachuted out of a 747 during flight.

That was one heck of a ride to the ground, considering that the 'chute failed 1/2 the way down, thankfully most of my realistic dreams employ some level of cartoon physics. Doesn't stop it from "hurting" though, and darn do those pains feel real even if it is a dream.

Of course it hurts! That's why you're supposed to wake up right before you hit the ground!

That's similar and more weird than the time I had a dream I was skydiving with TV weatherman Al Roker.

i once had a fursuit dream...

i dont remember the whole thing, but i remember the whole thing played out similar to a book at first: the main character(my perspective was a blury mix of first and thid limited person, so im not sure if it was me or not) was attempting to save a race of
bipedal dog-like creatures from being discovered by the police. then, somehow or another, i was on the street that i origanlly lived on before i moved, and i walked outside and saw everyone in my neighborhood wearing fursuits. one claustraphobia-inspring furpile later, i woke up in a cold sweat.

i just thought i should get this one off my back, i had it last night and thought it was pretty interesting.

i don't remember all of it, but it started as this:

i had sent a job application for a job at the mall(in the dream, because in RL i'm not old enough yet to omit the child labor laws(unlike my sister, who earns $7,000 every 50 weeks working at a hair salon)), and when i got there i was dismayed to find that every single wall in the mall was pink, which is rather disturbing to me, because it seems that in every mall dream i've had(which totals 3 now) the walls are either pink or blue. when i asked the mall manager what my job would be, he barked "go stand under that sign." and pointed sharply to a yellow sign, with a face that said "you're not even worthy to polish the ground i walk upon". i obediantly did as i was told, but when i got there and looked back i saw that the manager had disappeared. i glanced up to see exactly what kind of sign i was standing under, and saw red numbers on it. i somehow new they were lottery numbers, but of what kind of lottery i did not know. i snatched the sign out of whatever it was hanging on(which i think was nothing), and after wandering for a ridiculously long time, i found ricardo and david shoping somewhere else in the mall, 2 guys from my boyscout troop. ricardo is incredibly strong(we once saw him throw a rock easily the size of his head 30 feet over a lake, and then watched it skip an additional 15), and david has the kind of hair that is thick and shiney with grease, but is arranged in a fashion that makes the grease look more like some expensive hair styling gunk. ricardo continued on shopping, but david stopped to notice me, and for some reason i was overtaken with a feeling of glumness. david asked me why i was so glum, but before i could respond he whisked me off to the elevator. now, here i must interupt the tale for a very important detail about me: when an elavator appears in my dreams, no matter how scary or cheerful the dream happens to be, the elevator is BAD. it is for this reason that i have developed an acute fear of elevators(i'm always the first one in and the first one out) to the point where going into an elevator alone takes a great deal of humming softly to myself and some kind of self-engouragement. i once had a dream where i narrowly avoided being crushed by the elevator doors because i was the last one in, and then while it was going up the elevator took a sharp 90 degree turn and eventually fell out the side of a 50 story building. anyway, back on track, we were in the elevator, and david pushed the button for floor 7(out of 9). immediatley we were pinned to the ground by the tremendous g-force, and judging by the time and speed of the elevator ride i'd say we reached an impossible height. when the elevator finaly stopped, i turned to david and muttered "i think god wants to see us". it turns out i was only half right. the door opened to reveal an ominous hallway, with 4 appartment doors in it, all shrouded in a forbidding sickly green mist. one door suddenly opened, and several black tentacles shot out and grabbed david's legs. with much screaming and kicking he was dragged into the inky darkness and the door quickly slammed shut behind him. before the next door could open and release whatever unsavory horrors were behind it, i closed the elevator doors(and, again, narrowly avoided being crushed) and, to avoid the reverse of the crushing g-forces we experienced on the way up, i pressed the button for floor 4, and crouched ina small ball, then did the same while pressing the button for floor 1. when i got to floor one, the door opened to reveal a beautiful sunny day, but i had no time to enjoy it, because my dream ended.

I generally do as the con approaches.

For me, my dreams generally start with a 4 million mile line to registration and end with me getting my badge just in time to wander past closing ceremonies. Which are on fire.

Really, cons don't go well in my sleep.

As long as they go reasonably well when you're awake, you probably shouldn't complain too loudly.

That's why when you go to a con, you have to stay hepped up on caffeine and sugar for at least 72 hours so you can see the whole con and take away only positive memories from it. Sticking out tongue

That usually ends with us having to treat the person involved for exhaustion.

*nods* That's why I added a Sticking out tongue to the end of that. If I did that, our station wagon that took us to AC would be a hearse for the trip home.

I've had a couple more furry-con-related dreams lately.

The first was about a month ago. Disappointingly, my brain bastardized a furry convention by combining it with a grade school class reunion, which sucks because I hated that school. There were fursuiters (can't remember if I recognized any of them), and the role of my 4th grade math teacher was played by Chevy Chase.

About two nights ago I had another one, and the "feel" of it was sort of a combination of MFF and AC, as if I was at MFF but expecting to see people and discussions from AC. The convention center had a completely different layout, though, with each discussion panel room tied in to the next with doors at the back of the rooms which caused a continuous flow of foot traffic through each panel. There were no fursuiters that I could see, but there was one guy who was a cyclops (not a costume, he actually had one normal sized eye in the center of his face). At least the sponsored charity made sense, doing something to help domestic cats.

Hmmmm...it's almost time for bed. I wonder what dreams await me.

A few days ago I had my first fursuit dream, it was particularly strange since it all took place at the High School I graduated from. No idea why everyone was at the High School at night and in Fursuit, but the locker rooms were the headless lounge and everyone was very relaxed.

The whole thing was very surreal, which I admit which was the first thing that popped into my head walking into the Westin for the very first time. It's bizarre, but in a very relaxing and neat way.

I also found it amusing that I was wearing a fursuit in the dream, even though I've never worn one before. Ironically, that will change in May since that's when my fursuit from MixedCandy will be finished.
