New to being a furry
I was on this one chat room and they ask if any furs where in the chat room and I said I was and they picked on me do people hate furs for some reson
Lots of subgroups get picked on, not just furries.
Sounds like it's time to find a different chatroom.
Yea they almost made me cry by the things they said and I was so upset I was thinking of not being a furry one thing that really hurt is someone said god hates u but I said that god hates those who hate people for being them
Listen, God does not hate furries, He does not hate gay people or transsexuals or even taxi drivers, He loves all of his children. He might not agree with the certain choices we make, but He still loves us, and all who believe in his son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. And there is nothing wrong with being furry, or liking anthropomorphics, nowhere in the Bible it says, "Thou shalt not be a furry..."
And this gets me very angry, person saying that they are Christian, and then not acting like they are and putting others down. "You have to walk the talk," my grandmother always says, and people who don't, are just a bunch of pompous hypocrites. And by acting that way and doing those things, it turns others from their faith, and it makes me very sad and angry.
Don't get discouraged, be who you are, no matter what others say, and God will still love you.
Matthew 22:34-40 (NASB)
34But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together.
35One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him,
36"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
37And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
38"This is the great and foremost commandment.
39"The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
40"On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."
*steps on soapbox*
When Jesus said "the whole Law and the Prophets", his audience-
religious authorities and experts in RELIGIOUS law (not the other
kind of lawyer)- understood that to mean "all of Scripture."
The Torah (the Old Testament) can be divided into "the Law",
"the Prophets" and "the writings." The Torah was all of Scripture
they had at the time-it was their Bible. Jesus said ALL OF IT
revolves around TWO things.
1) Love God with everything you've got.
2) Love your neighbor as yourself.
So, the second thing to know about pleasing God is to love your
neighbor like you love yourself.
Now, some people will try to weasel out of treating others nicely,
trying to distort the meaning of "neighbor". So, I will quote Jesus
Luke 10:29-37 (NASB)
29But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.
31"And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32"Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33"But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion,
34and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
35"On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.'
36"Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?"
37And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same."
If they don't know that, they don't know "the second thing" about the God they had
the audacity to speak for.
Since they don't know "the second thing" about furries either, don't be surprised
about their gross ignorance. If they weren't using God as a pretext to belittle
others, they'd use some other excuse. Some minds are so small that they can
only feel larger if they try to make others feel smaller.
*steps off soapbox*
I can keep going, but I'll spare the forum.
YES! Hateful Christians are one of my pet-peeves! Christ never said, "Hate thou thy neighbor for she is different than thou art.". GRRR. I have studied many different faiths and theologies and philosophies. I consider myself a Christian, but I have no wish to associate myself with people like that, who have no understanding or care to understand what the gospel of Jesus Christ was. People like that make me claim Buddhism as my faith so that I don't have to talk to them. By the way, I quite like Buddhist philosophy, but I can't go wholly into Buddhism because I beleive in a creator god. Anywho, There are haters everywhere. Some people hate everything and everyone, especially on the internet where they get to be anonymous and largely untouchable. This gives them an outlet for their inner butthole. Know that you are a person of worth and value and that you can demand to be treated with respect because as a thinking person you DESERVE respect.
See, I'm Atheist, but I am more Christian than most of the Christians around here, WAY too much prejudice.
Yes, they are my biggest pet-peeve whatevers too, I cant stand them. I am Baptist and we are never taught to hate anyone, because Jesus would never hate or hurt anyone. Thats what the word "Christian" means, to be Christ-like. And that why most people dont like Christians, because all they see are the few that are the hateful, but they never see all the good we do, like volunteer work and fund raisers.
But I have to say this, I cant take anymore of it. If you are Atheist, I don't care that you are an Atheist, and I'm not trying to convert you (I've given up on that), but plz, plz plz plz, I beg you, whenever I say something like "Thank God! Without Him, I would have never passed that test!" Plz dont be hurtful. I have been hurt so so many times by them, saying stuff like "You Christians are idiot blind followers of nothingness" or "There is is no God, it was only coincidence" and then they think they did nothing wrong! That is very Extremely hurtful to me. You could insult my weight, my intelligences, my family, and none of those would hurt me as bad as that. If a Buddhist started telling me about his religion, I would never say something like that to him. I am a very happy person, but nothing brings me down quicker than the hurtful things that an Atheist can say. All the Atheists I have met and have been hurt by, have been in the furry fandom, and they say that we are the most excepting.
I wish we could all just get along, and not feel the need to hurt one another due to religion. This post was not to offend anybody (though everything offends somebody somewhere), it was just meant to give the information that has happened to me, and of how hurt I was. If you change yourself because of this post, to being a better person and not to hurt others for whatever reason, I greatly thank you. And I hope you will be a happier person, because the only way for you to receive happiness is to give it ^.^
I'm about as confrontational as a banana slug, no need for worrying about religion
people hate what they dont understand or cant be a part of. ive over the years been picked on because of my love of metal. as long as you respect others then there is nothing wrong with bein furry
You shouldn't listen to people like that. If you like being a furry don't let anyone tell you that your wrong or weird or god hates you (I'm atheist so I couldn't care less about god remarks but I don't say they are wrong for believing in him). I had to deal with the same garbage from my FRIENDS. The point is don't let these people get to you all they want is to see you upset, these are the people who are wrong not us. If this were a perfect world people would be more open-minded of other peoples beliefs and interests but it's not and you get the occasional "your wrong and I'm right" speech from some moron on the internet.
DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE GET TO YOU!! ALL THEY WANT IS TO SEE YOU UPSET!!
Do you know any good "furry" chatrooms? I haven't personally looked much. I'm getting tired of the vampire chat room, I don't belong! X\
Is website is the safest cause its all furrys so no furry haters
Well I do not know what you mean by 'good' but there are many furry chat rooms that use IRC, I now the FA one is very common and I see the most people in that, I do not know if this applies to you, but more for the 'young' furries, but there is even one for the 'teen' furries in the fandom. If there is something you like, odds are there is a chat room for it. If I am in the mood for chating I use FurNet's servers. Also I found the best way to get to know new furries is just to say hi. I have send some furries a random email saying hi and made at least 3 really good friends that way.
No probs I've lived through it and I know it's hard when someone says that you're weird and 'no one likes you' just remember there are thousands just like you that DO like you, we have to look out for each other.
Don't cry. Just remind yourself that the fellow in the chatroom saying the hateful things is not a popular jock football player with a rich father who drives a BMW. He's more likely a bulbous, sweaty 17-year-old with little piggy eyes and bad teeth who hates furries because he thinks we all look like him but somehow still manage to get together with thousands of like-minded friends and have a good time whereas he has to bribe other people with pizza to get them to be seen at the mall with him.
Either ignore these people or feel sorry for them. They hate because they hurt.
*picks on Kage for drinking wine!* Ganesh H8s U! :B
Ah, but Cthuhlu loves you! Especially with a little hot sauce.
Well said, Uncle Kage, nobody in my lifetime could be as great of an arranger of words as you are. You have the gift of being able to paint a bright and vivid picture in peoples' minds, with only using a few sentences. This might not be news to most furries, but I'm new to the furry world, and still a little nervous of the Infamous Uncle Kage, hahaha. I'm only playing, well.... kinda, heheh.
Kage's pretty easy-going under most circumstances. But, like a famous fictional character, his tagline could be "Please don't get me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!"
He'll be a 'mad' scientist! LOL Sorry everyone BAD JOKE ALERT (I just couldn't resist)
Raarrrggghhh!!! Hulk SMASH!!! Hulk....oooo, is that wine?
(Crappy British accent) Why, yes it is. Here Hulk, my ole friend, have a glass or two, I dare say, take the would bottle. You could partake in the smashing of items, but you'd rather not, and have some wine. *pours a glass of wine* 'ere we are, well done, ole chap.
I am so sorry this happened to you, if fact something like this happened to me, and I almost left the fandom because of it.
What happened to me was kind of weird, but I was still a 'new' fur, really I still am now, but this one furry who I will not name, was talking about what it means to be a furry, because someone asked, well I explained what I feel it is about, but he on the other hand talked about all the bad he sees in the fandom, and he just talked about it like it was something that was wrong for him to be in and do. But it really hurt me, more then the normal people making fun of furs, this was a furry, making fun of furs. Well it made me feel so bad, to think that someone that was part of my 'family' would say something like that about his own kind, I really did not want anything to do with furries at that point.........Then when I started to think about it I remembered how let me use this as an example the Anthrocon staff, has and dose answer all my stupid questions when ever I have them and they always do it with respect and kindly, even when I am more then likely the hundredth person to ask them the same stupid question. Then the more I thought about it the more I saw how 'good' the people were, about all that is given in the name of charity, and all the fun that is had, and how much I smile when I see ~V~ dance, or dex do magic, or something, it really just hit me that in ever group you will have that one person that is 'stupid' or acts wrong, but the over all picture is a good one.
As far as other non-furs making fun of you, it is a mixed thing. Every single person I have ever talked to about being a furry in real life, has understood, and was alright with it.
Online people are jerks because they can hide behind there computers, it makes them feel better about themselves, to make someone feel bad, and who could be better then those furries, because they are the weird ones.
Is there something that is not normal about us furries?
Yes, there is. As far as I can tell we are more of a 'family' then others. You can go to a star wars conventions, but you will not see people who talk everyday from around the world together, I found something really great in the fandom, I have made good friends with people as far away as California and I have also meet people I would not normally have liked, but I am more open as a furry. I found something nice out of this group of people, maybe I am the crazy one, but so what, who cares if people think I am crazy or weird, I have made some really good friends, meet some very interesting people, and I have a really good time. So if people can't understand that then so what

Yes, but you're biased-you're a furry.
Let's see what a non-furry had to say.
Mark Evanier, who has attended many conventions of many types down the years,
and has worked in movies, live television, cartoons, and comic books,
was a Guest of Honor at AC the other year. He was not, and is not, a furry.
He had no exposure to furry outside the convention.
Here's what he said in his blog.
(With links, so you can see I'm not making it up.)
So, look over what he wrote:
Anthrocon is — I cribbed this from their website — the world's largest convention for those fascinated with anthropomorphics, which are humanlike animal characters. It's a gathering of folks who draw, write about, dress up as or just enjoy cartoon animals. I'll tell you more about it from there.
We're here for the Anthrocon, which as I've explained is a convention of "furry" fans — folks with a passion for human-like animals or animal-like humans or blurring the line of demarcation between them. This fandom has endured a fair amount of mocking in the past, often from folks who oughta know better, given how their own interests have prompted ridicule from others. I come to it with my belief that, first of all, every group — up to and including those in which I am a willing participant — has its overzealous, embarrassing faction. It's not only wrong but a cheap, disingenuous trick to characterize an entire movement by its atypical element. It's kind of like those political arguments that try to tar every Republican/Conservative with the low moral standing of Ann Coulter or every Democrat/Liberal as being guilty of the sins of Lewis Farrakahn. Secondly, I figure that anything that makes people happy without making others unhappy is worthy of great respect.
I'm due at another event so my big discourse on Anthrocon will have to wait for another time. All I'll say for now is that this is one of the happiest conventions I've attended in 37 years of con-going. It's not about selling things. It's not about launching careers...at least, not in the way it would be if there were publishers here looking to hire. It's not even all that much about dressing up as some other species. I'll try and articulate what it is about when I don't have to rush off and shake hands. Or paws. Or whatever it is some of them have.
They were one of the features of Anthrocon. Another was the sheer friendliness of almost 3000 people who gathered this weekend and had, like my friend Carolyn and me, a very good time. It's a bit difficult to explain what goes on at a "furry" convention. Unlike your big comic conventions, it's not about commerce. The Dealers Room is small and the sellers mainly have furry costume parts (good place to get an extra tail) or handmade artifacts with an animal theme. There are a lot of artists around doing animal sketches for small fees and many of those artists are quite gifted and well encouraged by the experience. There's an art show. There are programming items. (Today, I did a panel with cartoon voice superstar Rob Paulsen on animation voicing and later, another with Carolyn on Pogo and the work of her father, the late Walt Kelly.) There are games and films and puppet shows — there are a lot of splendid puppeteers here — and parties. Mostly, I guess it's about seeing one another. Though this is the largest convention of its kind, it's still small enough that everyone almost seems to know everyone else.
I've received a few e-mails asking if I could explain why these folks like to dress up like animals or adopt animal nicknames or write tales of anthropomorphic animals. No, I can't. Just as I can't explain why people in this world do a lot of things that don't coincide with my tastes or interests. I don't understand why people get tattoos or pierce body parts or eat cole slaw or ride roller coasters or vote for George Bush or sleep with some of the people they sleep with...or do any of a thousand other things I could name that I cannot conceive of myself ever doing. I am, however, capable of appreciating that some who find joy in such activities are fine, good people and I would be doing myself a disservice to erect any sort of needless barrier between them and me. With the exception of the ones who vote for Bush, they do me no harm...and maybe, when they're not doing whatever it is I don't "get," they're doing something I can learn from or even want to emulate.
The folks I've met here at Anthrocon — with fewer exceptions than you'd imagine — have been decent, bright, creative and charming people. Does dressing up occasionally in a furry suit make you that way? Maybe not. If it does, I can think of a lot of people who ought to be in chipmunk costumes this very minute.
U know what -jumps on table- we r a "family" and that's what we hav over other fandoms we r strounger than than "trolls" and we r one "family" one team and I'm a furry and I'm pround
