Hotel attendance statistics
Approximately how many people are usually staying at the Westin? And how many at other hotels? Or to put it in another way: Approximately how many % of the hotel guests are furries during AC at the four hotels? I would guess that 100% of those staying at the Westin were furries.
This is relevant for people trying to chose a hotel and maybe feeling more comfortable with a hotel that has many other furries on it. Any statistics available on that? From my experience though, all the hotels have a fair amount of furries on them so one wouldn't feel odd and "sticking out" in a crowd of businessmen.
Most epicly win emoticon ever:
(sorry for the randomness of that)
I doubt that the con can get that information. They will be able to determine the number and percentage of rooms filled, compared to the capacity of the hotel in question That number can be compared to both the absolute number of rooms and to the (lesser) number in the hotel block.
The con has no way of knowing how many people are in each room. They can guess that most rooms have multiple people in them, but how many have two? Three? Four? How many are violating the rules with more than four? How many rooms will be occupied by only one person, like mine? They can take the number of rooms and divide by the number of attendees, but that will give only an estimate.
Obviously the Westin, as the main con hotel and (I believe) the largest room block, will have the most furries.
Currently, almost all the rooms in the Westin and Courtyard are full.
Percentages tell you little there, since the Westin was most people's
first choice, but the Courtyard is a much SMALLER hotel.
There will be enough furries at the Omni and the Courtyard to
have any attending furries feel there's plenty of others there,
because there are.
This is separate from the hotels making us welcome- our money is
as good as anyone else's, and AnthroCon means plenty of money for
the local businesses. So far, no hotel other than the Westin has
has reports of poorly-behaving furries, so it comes down to money,
and any group filling hotel rooms means money to a hotel.
For that matter, the other local businesses love us more. Just ask
Fernando. He loved us so much he made t-shirts and changes his
sandwich shop's name to "Furnando's" when we are in town.
(And gives us Specials with discounts.) Fernando himself has said
he does TWO MONTHS of business during the less-than-a-week of the
convention, and that he'd love us to show up a few more times a
year. (He said if we did, he could afford to close THE REST OF
THE YEAR. This makes sense, although I'm sure he would stay open
through the year anyway.)
If there's percentages on the hotels, they haven't been released,
but I don't think there's any need to find any.
"Enough" is a general estimate that works for most people.

The same, naturally, goes for the doubletree. I have no fear that furries staying in one of the current 4 con hotels will feel odd or out of place doing so.
No one ever fills a hotel 100%. There will always be a few other people staying at the hotel with the convention. The Westin has contract guests who have standing reservations. There will be just normal people who made reservations for the same weekend. No, no matter how big our con is, the hotel will never give us a 100% occupancy room block.
So we'll have a few bemused mundanes amongst the furs. From a security POV I'm pleased we won't have to deal with moving a sports team in and out of the hotel.
I remember the whole sports team thing.. I walk in and get told to go up stairs and out of the way I was like er.. whats going on lol
That was the New York Yankees. We got blindsided by the very sudden demand to "clear the lobby while the team is passing through."
I had a little chin-wag with the hotel management that evening. I believe my exact quote was, "We did it this evening because you asked us to, but we're not going to do it again."
I wasn't in the lobby for that particular scene, but I do recall walking through the lobby to see a whole bunch of people standing in the lobby area behind signpoles that said "no autographs, please".
I didn't know and didn't care what was going on, and since I was on my way through anyway, nobody buggered me to go elsewhere.
I totally forgot to get my picture taken next to one of the "no autographs, please" sign just to make myself feel important.
*does a Boston style cheer of "Yankees suck!" * (not that I`m from Boston.I`m actually a Pirates fan...so I`m not a fan of a major league baseball team it seems >_< )
And now that you've taunted Murphy, he will awaken from slumber...

Hmmm, while I don't have the best idea of what the percentages of furries are in each hotel...I can say for each hotel it's not 100%.
While the sheer majority of the Westin is occupied by Furries, the hotel does have emergency reserves for others...the best example being MLB teams. We had the Met's last year and the Yankees the year before that.
Shockingly, this year we won't be sharing the hotel with a MLB team! Apparently the Pirates are away for the duration of AC. (Though you might be able to catch the Cheifs if you arrive on the 21st.)
But anyways, I'd say the percentages of Furries at the Westin are in the 90's...I think it's the same for the other hotels. (I was at the Doubletree last year and it seemed there were a high amount of Furs there.
Randomness forgiven, for that is an awesome emoticon. ^_^
