Anthrocon 2010 Seeks Artwork and Writing for Conbook!
General Information
Anthrocon is currently seeking submissions of artwork, fiction, photography, and articles for publication in its 2010 conbook. The Anthrocon conbook offers a fantastic forum for artists and writers to showcase their talents to their peers. To make contributing artwork to the conbook easier, a file-uploading site is now available. Anthrocon asks for non-exclusive print rights for submitted works. The artist or author may publish the submitted work in any other fashion; previously, at the same time, and after.
While we welcome any submissions of most any nature, please be aware that priority may be given to those works that complements the theme of the convention, 'Modern Stone-Age Furries.' All submissions should be in the ‘G’ to ‘PG-13’ rating. The Publications Department reserves the right to reject submissions for any reason.
You Could Win A Supersponsorship!
Each submission sent according to guidelines (proper formatting, release forms, etc.) will be entered in a random drawing. Two submissions (one artwork, one writing) will be randomly selected April 27, 2010. The creator of each submission selected will receive a Supersponsorship (or upgrade, if membership has already been purchased) to Anthrocon 2010. There is no limit on the number of entries that may be submitted, but the same person cannot win both drawings. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
Members of the Anthrocon Board of Directors are not eligible for this drawing. Supersponsorship must be claimed for the 2010 convention and may not be applied against future years. Winning the drawing does not guarantee submission(s) will be used in the convention book, and publication of submitted work in the final convention book is not necessary to win. Your submission (and release form) must be received no later than April 26, 2010 to be eligible for the drawing.

entering!
I'm a little confused -- for writing, is one free to interpret the phrase "Modern Stone-Age Furries" as one wishes? Or is there a specific setting you're looking for?
Hi! I'm not sure I understand the question fully. We're open to all submissions, but we tend to give priority to submissions that complement the theme of the convention. There's plenty of room for different interpretations, clever puns, &c. on the theme, though. Hope this helps.
Ah, thank you.
Well, I'm certainly going to try and have a go at this!
I just gotta make time to do it
Oh this is awesome!! I'd love to submit some of my work. Is there a limit on story length?
From the link Xydexx posted:
Text submissions should be no more than 2000 words, typed in a standard 12-point font (Times New Roman, Courier), double-spaced, with one inch margins on all sides.
Oh
That kind of sucks. My stories are quite long...
Well, the conbook can only be so big. We like to have a variety of stories available, so it's definitely short-short story range.
Is there any way to get a larger story submitted, even if its not in the con-book?
Well, that raises the question: if it's longer than the conbook limits, what will we do with it? Xydexx, our publicatiosn director, and perhaps some of his loyal staff will read it, but that's it, really.
There are several APAs, zines, compliations, and websites for one to submit longer-form stories to to gain recognition; if you can't cut your story down below our limits, you might try other sources for your creativity.
Okay, no worries. Thanks for your help.
I'm a bit late in responding to this, but yeah, the first step (in the month-long madness involved in putting together the conbook) is to review all submissions to ensure they're technically compliant (formatted properly, &c.). My staff and I review all the text and artwork which are submitted.
haha, i soooo would but im way too lazy to draw lately. school and stuff, rofl.
Oh, this sounds really cool, Im definitely entering. *runs to his drawing pad*
Awesome ^^ Time to doodle!
This years theme is quite a challenge.
Entering as always. Just no idea what I want to do yet. LOL.
I have some raw story ideas, but I've been too busy with regular lab work plus recent snow plowing to do anything with them.
I hope I'll get a slower period soon to get at least two written.
Hey, I found one of my stories that is under 2000 words! I have submitted it!
About how many stories are being accept this year, because last year it seemed there was only around 5 and some of them were written by the same person.
Hi Ether!
The number of stories published in the conbook depends on the amount of space we have available and number of stories we receive. We published 9 stories last year. (For comparison, we published 6 in 2006, 5 in 2007, and 7 in 2008.)
