Is there a guide/program/event list?
Hiya. Well, this is going to be my first convention! Ever.
Huzzah!!
And I was curious, is there any sort of event guide out that'll say what's happening and when? So I can chart out my days.
Mainly cause I was coming in a fursuit, and I always hear about the parade, and I really wanted to join in on it.
But I don't know when it's occurying, or where.
I was hoping to get everything planned cause generally on my first time for anything, I miss something and am usually told "Well, guess you'll have to wait till next year. But now you know."
I don't wanna do that, cause a year doesn't pass by that fast.
Edit - Also, I was curious... what are badges?
I've seen custom ones... is there a guide to that too? :3
There will be an event guide, but it won't be available until just before the con. That's because KP has to take all of the requests for panels and put them in a grid so he can plan what panel goes where and when At this time, even he doesn't know what panels will be offered. (I do believe that the con pays for his extensive aspirin bill.
)
Certain things are constants. There will be an Art Show and Auction, a Charity Auction a Dealer's Room, the Artists Alley, the Fursuit Parade, Uncle Kage's Story Hour, 2's Rant and various dances. (Nothing intended by the order.) The Parade and Charity Auction will be Saturday afternoon, UKSH and 2's Rant are usually Saturday evening IIRC, the dances are late evening.
There are two kinds of badges. The first is the official con badge you receive at Registration. You must wear this badge at all times to be permitted into convention functions. The other type of badge is the personal badge. These are artist-made badges that reflect you in some way. You tell an artist what you want, agree on a price,, they do the work and you wear the badge. Note that although many to most people do wear them, they are not essential. There really isn't (to my knowledge) a FAQ about custom badges, although a lot of information was posted in an old thread http://www.anthrocon.org/node/4180
Edit: (@#$!@* BlackJack types faster than I do!
Here's a quick guide as to art badges: http://www.anthrocon.org/node/1122 Three years later, it all still applies, except I'd say prices have moved up from $15-$30 to $20-$40.
Everything else has been well-covered by Blackjack and Charlie, as per usual.

Each year there is a schedule. It's in your Registration packet you receive when
you show up at registration (or the Preregistration line because you were
smart and preferred to preregister so you could get on a 1-minute line
rather than a 1-hour line.)
Shortly before the convention, a copy is also posted online for review.
No schedule is 100% perfect- there will be changes between the online one
and the opening of the convention, and some panel or other can be
canceled if the panelist has to cancel and can't make the con.
Also, nothing can be 100% error-proof. However, the schedules are as
accurate as can reasonably be expected.
They also change from year to year.
Last year's schedule can be downloaded as a PDF here:
http://www.anthrocon.org/schedule
At any time it may be taken down to make room for this year's schedule.
In general, a few tendencies can be found....
Thursday is registration, and some social events-mixers, etc.
Friday-Sun afternoon are the panels in general.
Adult topic panels are held late in the evening.
(We're talking 10pm.)
Sat afternoon's the Fursuit Parade.
Sat evening's the "Masquerade" Talent Show and Uncle Kage's Story Hour.

AC's official convention badges are received with the Registration packet,
picked up on the Registration line (or the Preregistration line
all sane people will try to get on by Preregistering ahead of time.)
Each year's badge is unique. Guests of Honor, Sponsors, Supersponsors,
and Panelists can each get ribbons for adorning the badge that year.
Artists can be commissioned anytime to make an artist badge.
I find them MOST convenient for wearing before the convention starts and
the official convention badge can be picked up. Of course, most people
won't get to commission an artist for a badge until the Dealer's Room
or Artist's Alley opens up. However, some artists will take commissions
and mail a badge. You'd have to look them up on FurAffinity or wherever
and make arrangements ahead of time. Please note it's usually better to
commission an artist with a good reputation- but such artists usually
charge a premium for their badges.
