Well, it seems that my plans for AC 07 may or may not be destoryed. I got in trouble with the cops and now i may be facing probation. Oh well, but there is a good side to this though, if i do get probation, the money i save will go to my fur suit that i plan to buy from Mixed Candy. Hehe, oh well. See ya! Theyain Riyu, the Fox |

Lets see... It was at night, around nine forty. Me and a few friends were at the school to pick up another friend because he need a ride. So we were there, and i had to go pee. Well i knew the school was open so i went in side, but the only thing was i was wearing a stage sword (no edge or point), but i didn't care because there wasn't anyone there. So i go in, pee, and go out. Next thing i know the principal is there, sees the sword and calls the cops on us. I am now facing a weapons charge and a misdemeanor (I is a minor!). Soooo yea. If this goes at all bad i could recieve probation, and that would mean i would be allowed to leave the town of Woodstock VA, cause would have to report to a probation officer every day. So that would mean no AC, which sucks. Normally it would only last six months. I just hope i only get community service for a few days.

Three words: Hire A Lawyer.
Also, I'd be careful about making statements about the case online. Anything you say may be entered into evidence and, if it contradicts what you say under oath, may hurt your credibility. I personally know of one individual who was burned really badly by that.

permalinkYeah what Giza said. I had a friend that went with a public defender, and got much worse than he should have. Get the best laywer you can afford. If you can't come to AC07, let it be because your broke, not because the law put the screws to you.

permalinkOuch, yeah, a sheathed sword (Was it sheathed?) is considered a concealed weapon there. I had to get a permit to wear one to a ren fair. VA is so lame.

It wasn't sheathed, it was out in the open, and you could even tell it was a fake sword. For gods sake, it was even called a non lethal weapon by the cops! Gah!

A "non lethal weapon" probably puts it in the same class as a taser and nightstick. And if this goes to a trial, there's a good chance that the prosecutor will try to make it out to be as such.
This is why having a good lawyer is essential. For example, an experienced lawyer could work out a plea and be able to tell if it's a good offer or not. Consider any money spent here to be an investment in your future.

Dude, you're gonna get so screwed if you don't have a lawyer, especially in this area (I live a half-hour away from you, in Harrisonburg). Just do it, regardless of the cost, having a clean criminal record (or one less mark on it) is infinitely more valuable than the cash you'd save by not hiring one.

Well, From what I was told for a fact, I going to be tried as a minor (YES!) and its nothing more then a class 1 misdemeanor . That and i have done other things to help my case, such as move out from my stepmother, get a job, got to a shrink (i hate shrinks) to get a label to help my case, all kinds of things. But a lawyer wouldn't hurt. oh, and the label i was given was one saying i had a short term disorder that was basically saying that I had some issues come up and i wasn't handling them as well as most people would like me to.
