So I know theres been talk about one day seeing about something on the most mascot type suits in one place or something along these lines.. and I was like you know this would be cool and all that jazz.. but I never wanted to it happen more than now. I know some furries have long time feuds with klingons at bowling .. and well I saw this (http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Largest-gathering-of-Trekkies/photo/8100850/7691.html) a few moments ago and go.. wow are we gonna let the trekkies get one and not us?

Yeah I know right? At the very least one more to make an even number...it's like they're not even trying anymore.

I would wager to guess that the costume enthusiasts in the star trek fandom are a lot like suiters in the furry fandom - they're the most outwardly visible thing but make up a really tiny minority of the overall population.

I'd also wager to guess since pretty much everyone in 'furry' is in the fandom, and since there are plenty of star trek fans who are perfectly isolated from it and just enjoy the show, that the star trek fandom itself is actually significantly smaller than furry. The number doesn't surprise me at all.

I'd bet that you're right! It's all too easy to alienate a population based on a small majority of individuals. I'm certain there are fans of every base that don't costume themselves but enjoy the material being presented. I do wonder if the Star Trek Fandom has increased or decreased since its conception...I would assume it has decreased just because a younger fan base is rather hard to come by for a genre like that. Either way though I'm glad you're not surprised. I assume most wouldn’t be. But I didn't mean what I said as a serious mention, I meant it as a joke of course.
