So, Anthrocon 2010 will be my first furry convention. And I have a few questions.

First of all, I'm 17, but I have a question about the parental forms. What I want to know is, if I'm going with family (in this case, my aunt), do I still need to have my parents sign the form?

Second, my aunt knows next to nothing about furries, and she wants to learn more about us. She's very open, and I was wondering what kind of events or pannels and so forth, should me and her attend?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

You will still need the signed and notarized Parental Consent form dealt with by parents, yes. Going with your aunt is a great idea, but she's not legally responsible for you the way your parents are- we need the form from them.

On Friday, there's a panel held every year for first-time attendees, called "So This Is Your First Anthrocon?". It's a must for first-time attendees. In addition, the 'big events' for first-year attendees are typically Uncle Kage's Story Hour, the Masquerade, and the Fursuit Parade.

http://www.anthrocon.org/files/anthrocon/active/0/Anthrocon%202009%20schedule.pdf has LAST YEAR'S schedule- browse it, and get an idea for the things you might like to try.

You might also browse http://www.anthrocon.org/faq/minors for further information.

The dances are good, too. Come to the dances.

In addition to the very good advice from Chia, let me offer a suggestion. When you pick up your badge and registration materials, you will get two very important things: The programming guide and a pocket program. The guide will give you information on every single panel and event that will be held at the convention. The pocket program will give you a grid showing hour by hour what events will be in each room. Together, you can use these two items to create a great list of things that you will want to do. That will help you build your own personal schedule for the weekend.

Anthrocon's programming has a lot of things that you can do. So you may want to review the guide and see if anything particularly catches your attention. Art classes and panels, writing workshops, discussion groups, stage and puppet performances, fursuit workshops, videogame tournaments, the art show, and all sorts of things are there for you.

Hope that helps. Smiling

I believe there's also a panel called "So My Kid Dragged Me To This Convention". Sticking out tongue

You could also show her this highlights video that an attendee put together from last year's convention:
