Curious About DJ 2010 & Genre
I was kind of wondering some things about the dance like if it is allowed for minors or if there will be more than one musical event. I was highly interested though on who the DJ(s) are and what music they would be playing. I personally love progressive/melodic/vocal trance or uk hardcore. I dj to myself but if there were to be some furry dj's at the con I'd be interested to know what they like or what previous con audiences have liked. I always was interested to find out about other DJs and how they work. I suppose that's because I commonly use my virtual dj to beatmix but I really wanted to gain talents with midi controlers or vinyl. Lol sorry if I typed a lot this is my first furry con and my first (large) convention.
Still though out of interest I as wondering about maybe if there was a more in-depth listing of the selection? Perhaps if any of them had websites or small bio's? I looked back in the forums and saw a dj panel and wondered if there would be anything of the sort this year?
http://www.anthrocon.org/search/node/dj%20spotlight will get you bios from previous years;
don't know whether/how much much they might have changed since then
BTW Giza there's still a glitch in that when I hit Preview, it shows me a fragment of my first line, then the rest of the post
As for the dances: I don't know this year's schedule, but can relate to you last year's. There were dances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom, as well as the Fursuit Friendly dances in the Westin in (Pennsylvania room?) with a softer, more 'party DJ' set IIRC. I imagine the same will occur this year, but that's programming's baliwick, not mine.
That's actually an incorrect guess. It's fursuit-friendly, which means a more party-style music set, less intense; no laser action; and if I recall correctly the house lights are dimmed but stay on. But everyone is welcome to dance and enjoy, not just fursuiters.

Off the top of my head, there's one DJ who does industrial, one who's doing more hip-hop and rap styled stuff, one who's primarily drum and bass, a couple of more trance and prog-house oriented fellows, a breaks DJ, and electro house gets a good representation too. I'm probably going to be going with techish electro and some more filthy straight-up techno... UK hardcore doesn't have a presence.
veddy niyce.. |3 would be cool to see some of the dj's like you. Was AC considering a DJ panel again?
That probably depends on whether one or more of the DJs in the furry community are feeling inclined to host one; AC programming staff don't normally solicit specific panels from specific people (except maybe the guests of honor).
Sure, why not. I'll submit the request later today.

Minors are allowed at the dances (the same rules from our Standards of Conduct apply there).
