Question about going to the bathroom (Fursuit related)
While this won't be my first time to AC (In actuality it'll my 2nd time.), I will be a first time fursuiter and I just realized something...what do I do when if I'm in fursuit, have to go to the bathroom and I don't have time to reach the hotel room?
Is it possible to head in one of the fursuit lounges, take the suit off (Keeping in mind I will be wearing at the least under armor and such) and dash to a nearby bathroom?
I know it seems like a silly question, but I will admit I'm new to this.

If you do take your suit off in the headless lounge to dash to the bathroom keep in mind that Anthrocon does not provide secure storage for items or suits. You will be leaving your suit unattended at your own risk. There is no telling if your suit might walk out of the lounge while you are gone or possibly be damaged. While I don't know if this has actually happened at AC before or not all it would take is one person with mischief on their mind.
As Charlie has said make sure you empty out before hand. Then when you start to feel the need again you might want to either head to your room or have someone you trust watch your suit while you are gone.
I've never had the right circumstances/materials to test this, but I've heard that if you feel it coming on, then you should stop drinking water for awhile and your body will metabolize the fluids and postpone the urge long enough for you to leisurely stroll to the nearest bathroom.
On the (less then)off chance I'm wrong, you should place your hydration over an uncomfotable situation. I've heard that overheating is easy to do in a fursuit, so keeping hydrated is extremely important, as you may very well know.
In theory, i could see it.
In practice, dehydration and overheating are a big enough issue for fursuiters that i really wouldn't recommend intentionally dehydrating yourself.
First off, as someone previously mentioned, you should always relieve yourself before getting into your costume. It's pretty much a good idea and helps prevent the situation you are describing.
Second, when you are in a costume your body tends to release a lot of water through sweating. This tends to make it unlikely that you'll end up needing to run to the restroom while in costume. As a matter of good practice, you should always stay well hydrated before, during and after a costuming session. You will end up sweating most, if not all, the water out, meaning that you likely won't need to use the restroom until you've cooled off after a costuming session.
Third:

The best thing to do would be to go directly to the restroom and remove the costume there. Make sure that you can get out of your costume quickly without hurting yourself. In fact, you should practice that at home. If there is any part of your costume that makes it hard to remove quickly, consider altering or removing that part. It makes it safer in case of some other sort of emergency (which I hope never happens).
As for de-fursuiting in the headless lounge: as long as you are decent under your costume. There have been occasions when a fursuiter has need to cool off completely and has removed their body suit. This is fairly uncommon, but we would rather someone remove their costume rather than overheat.
There are restrooms near both headless lounges (one is in the Convention Center and one is on the second floor of the Westin. So it would not be impractical to head to the restroom from the headless lounge. However, I would recommend against doing so. As someone pointed out above, the headless lounges are not guarded. This means that leaving your fursuit in one of the lounges is not advisable. However, if it is an emergency, you should consider your own health and safety over that of the costume. It is likely that other fursuiters will be in the lounges most of the time. It is probable that one of them would be willing to watch your costume while you head to the restroom, but this can not be guaranteed
The bottom line is: Use common sense.
- Always relieve yourself before getting into costume
- Always keep yourself hydrated
- Make sure you can get out of your costume quickly and easily
- Your health and safety is more important than that of your costume

As a fursuiter myself, I agree with all of the above, and just add my own experiences - the whole time I was in fursuit, even though I was breaking constantly for water, I did not have to answer the call of nature until well after I had taken off the costume. But you should still take into consideration all the tips above to prevent any mihsaps.
If you don't think you can make it that long, there's always the option of a catheter and colostomy bag. XD
Which would work well until someone hugged you in just the wrong way.
ROFLMFAO hahahahaha at the comments above me!!!I am a fursuiter to so this a good plan of action. Thank you for alll the input on this. Also no one said anything about a handler to watch your stuff to. That works well. Also If you need to POP YOUR TOP (take off head of fursuit)to COOL DOWN. DO it its better then trying to make it to the cool down rooms I Have had a near mis hap at FCN because i tried to hold it till i got in the cool down room.(over heating)Passing out. just keep in mind how long you have been in suit and what you are useto so you dont overheat or make a mess. ALSO REMBER you are at a con!!!!! you are going to be more active and moving/danceing/running and jumping in suit. so be mindfull of your body.

From a non-suiter, the best suggestion is to empty your bladder and/or bowels before you put on the fursuit. You'll probably find that you can't fursuit for eight hours in a row for many other reasons. If you start out empty, the odds are you won't... refill... unexpectedly.
At a Scifi con many years ago, a young woman wore a centauress suit. She made damn sure she was empty beforehand because there was no way she could unsuit publicly without violating public decency laws. She unsuited about seven hours later just in time to dash to the bathroom. This is only an advisory as to time. The odds of wearing your fursuit that long continuously are pretty low.
