Which Hotel/Motel Are You Staying At+Bus Questions
Only Seventy Days Left! (i need to pick up the pace on my fursuit!)
Ok, once again, here is me, frosti the anoying wolf with the many questions! Ok, so here i go again.....
-What hotel/motel are you staying at? Or like WHERE are you staying at? I was looking at the internet for cheep places, and there was a hotel called the ramada inn (or hotel, i cant remember, ill look it up) and it had a really good price. the only bad thing is that it is no where in a walking distance of the convention center. So that suckzzzz. Also, from what ive heard, the parking at the convention center is alittle pricy. Anyway, so i was wondering if anyone knows of a good bus that most furries or fursuiters use when they are staying at a hotel by the airport hotels and the ones not by the convention center. Also, are you going to be riding or have ridden on this bus? Just some simple questions.
-What time do you arive at the convention center? What time do the doors to the convention center open? My dad wanted to know what time the doors open and when to get there so we know when to get up.I want to be there like alittle bit after when the doors first opens so i can greet the early comers in my fursuit
-Any little idea on what day the fursuit parade is? Im expecting it to probably to be on saturday mabey. Also, any idea on what day the dancing cometition is on? Im hoping that both of them are on saturday incase i can only stay for one day.
So anyway, please answer my questions if you can! Thanks, Sincerely Frosti The Wolf
Ok, your answers helped ALOT. Thanks!
When i said something about parking it was because i was reading a post saying "oh the bus is cheaper" but others say "its pretty cheap" so i was just asking for some info, but just so you know, the link is a 404 incase someone trys to click on the link. I saw the schedual from last year, and like you said i wouldnt be supprized if it was on saturday. I may be able to help if i get there a day earlier, but since we live in maryland i have no idea..... but anyway the info about the time the open helps alot, because we werent sure if we wanted to drive down the night before (like if i went saturday, then drive down friday night) or if we wanted to start driving earley in the morning so we would get there in enough time to get to our hotel and then go straight to the convention center, so knowing the time helps us decide which. thanks for the info again!
Try this instead - http://www.anthrocon.org/parking - the period got included in Giza's post, also in the schedule link, but not the volunteering one
I personally will be staying at the Westin. As a comment to add to your plans to stay at the Ramada, the Ramada chain is actually fairly decent, they have some good standards for customer care, so I'm usually very happy with them.
As for transport, I will be coming from the airport with a chauffer, should I have any issues, which, I'll be in a business suit most likely, so I shouldn't have any issues with being "furry" even though I won't look at all like one. (What does a furry look like anyways?....philosophy) But the thing with travelling by chauffer is that if they do give you any issues you can always submit a report to their company, and, if the company doesn't take "care" of any of the issues, or doesn't take any action, you can submit a report to the Better Business Bureau. But, with the limo services being offered I will make the point that I am willing to trust whatever driver is there to take me to the con. Some great companies I recognize are being offered. The downside, for you, if you plan on getting in a fursuit and hiring a limo (or a Sedan) to take you to the con is that it will cost you more than, say, a taxi, and you usually need to reserve your trip and route.
I will be arriving at PIT at about 2pm. Add an hour to that, to reliably estimate when I will get to the Westin. Maybe I will see you there during the con! :3 The con though, when it opens, has already been mentioned, but I would like to point out that if you DO get there early, you can always hang out with friends from the area and have a nice dinner at restaurants such as Kiku. Pittsburgh really does have some lovely dining areas, not as good as some places, but not as bad as others. Plenty of choices, but if I were you, I would recommend something Asian, or Irish. (this comes from living in Pittsburgh the first 8 years of my life and going back to see family a few times over the years)
Anyways, sorry about the long, overbearing post, I hope it gives you some insight to some of us "normal" con-goes. Even though this will be my first time at AC. And second con overall. :3

I've got some answers (and comments) for you.
On the subject of hotels, I guess now would be a good time to point out that Anthrocon's very existence depends on us filling a certain number of hotel "room-nights" in accordance with our contracts with the hotels. (In return for filling up the hotels, we get deals on things like function space, and a price break on the individual hotel rooms) Also, the convention hotels are steps away from the con itself. No busses required!
Parking is actually quite affordable just a few blocks away. Have a look at our parking page at http://www.anthrocon.org/parking.
Convention programming officially starts on Friday, with opening ceremonies around 11 AM. There will however be some smaller events held on Thursday evening. And, if you arrive earlier than that, feel free to give us a hand by volunteering. (I myself will arrive Tuesday evening)
The fursuit parade will very likely by on Saturday afternoon.
The reason why I am being vague about the times of certain events is because we do not publish our final schedule until a few weeks before the convention. But if you want, you can view last year's schedule at http://www.anthrocon.org/schedule.
Let me know if you have any more questions, thanks.
