I have a question
Ok, my question is I have a fursuit, my roomie has three (believe it or not) and another roomie has one, I know they give preference to those on the lower floors, but how does one go about that? Do I call the hotel or what happens or what is the process?
Thanks.
ahh ok, I will tell them, I remember last year I was floor 16 at the Westin.
You can request the lowest available floor, but remember that the hotel cannot guarantee that you will get it.
Just a random comment.
I noticed that the higher the floor, the greater the odds you have of getting on an empty elevator to go down from your room. ^_^
True, but getting back *up* to your room can be a challenge sometimes.
The years when I was on the 9th floor, I hoofed it on the stairs. However, I haven't been that low in the hotel in two years now :\
and no one wants to do the 'marathon' which is run up flight after flight of stairs, I did the 23 floor marathon with a friend at last years AC, but it was worth it in the end.
Nah, just walk, not run. And stop halfway to two-thirds up and rest if you need to. Though if you do a trip like that and beat the people in the elevator, it's always fun to see their expressions.
Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it isn't. It depends on how much energy I have left. I spend the entire day walking around, and those stairs can just be killer after spending 12 hours walking around the convention center and the hotel proper.
And now, I'll be in fursuit for roughly half of the convention, so stairs will not even be an option anymore. I'm currently looking into ways to extend my duration in suit since I don't want to make a lot of refresher trips to my room.
Yes I know about the headless lounges, but a bit of cool air and some water only go so far.

Well, if you're staying at the Westin it probably doesn't matter. The con can no longer support a 'fursuit floor' simply due to the number of fursuiters. So, I guess what you'd do is to tell them at the desk during hotel registration that you're a fursuiter and that you'd prefer a room on a lower floor of the hotel. Just don't be surprised if you end up on the 26th floor...
I don't know that the auxiliary hotels offer the advantages to fursuiters that the con asks the Westin to do. That is, I don't know whether lower-floor rooms are held by preference for suiters. The elevator preference shown at the Westin may not happen elsewhere, either.
I'm pretty certain that it can't be done over the phone. After all, the person taking the reservation has no way of knowing whether you really have a fursuit or not.
