I did this a little bit last year and it was somewhat fun. Now this year I will have a bigger car so it won't be as tight as it was last year. Now I can offer rides from the airport to con hotel or one of the overflows. I know the area farely well so no worries in getting lost. Now I'm still desiding if I'm going to do it again this year. I manly did it sence my room mates was flying in at difrent times and I wanted to kill the time betwine waiting sence nothing was really going on. But if I deside to do it again this year I will keep everyone posted. ~KC~ |

I and my son will be arriving in the late afternoon on July 5 (Thursday). I will be glad to offer shuttle service from PIT to the convention center/hotels. Just let me know if your flight will allow me to assist you. I posted a comment on this previously... No one has responded, as of yet, to it...
Just help me with gas money and save what it would cost you in a fancy taxi ride! I have an Honda Odyssey van, so space will not be an issue. Bring your fur suits!

Thanks for your candid assessment of why you think folks haven't replied to my offer of assistance. I appreciate honesty and being "up front" with folks.
There may be a slight misinterpretation as to what I was saying, however.
I am not seeking a subsidy for AnthroCon. Just fairness in helping with a little gas money - that's all, no more no less. Please keep in mind that I am DRIVING from AL to PA - about 13 or 14 hours, then making my van available for those who arrive at about the same time at the airport. This is an offer from the heart, not a money-making scheme. I will surely be tired and road weary by the time I get there, but I am willing to make some sacrifice to assist my "brothers in fur". I can only assume that a taxi ride from the airport to the convention center would be at least $25.00, if you paid me $5.00 for gas, would that not be a tremendous deal??? Fairness, that's all. Not a money maker. And let's keep in mind, gas may be at $3.00 a gallon or MORE by then. Again, let's just be fair and honest.
Well, not to beat a dead horse, as they say, I hope that what I have said is not considered offensive or rude. I am genuinely a nice guy who cares deeply for people (thus the offer to assist when I have no need to go to the airport).

Your compleatly missing my point for doing what I am.. See I live manybe a hour and a half from pittsburg. and as it stands I will be makeing a few trips back and forth my self picking up friends and room mates. lastyear I did this in a small sports car and still transported about 7 furs not counting my room mates to the hotel and what not, Also I know my way around pittsburg pritty well and know traffic flow. But this year I will have my trooper running so I will have a mid sized SUV, all I'm saying is if your truly doing this from the heart , What does gas money matter?? All I know is I'm not going to bicker about it anymore in fear of someone thinking this thread has turned in to a flame war..
Also I wouldn't mind meeting up, Just when and where?

Thank you for the explanation. I understand completely what you are doing, and it's a great thing. As you have discerned, I am just trying to help other furs who may be arriving at about the same time as I and my son are. The gas money is not at issue, to be sure. I was only trying to point out what a bargain it would be to pay a few bucks in gas money versus a much larger amount in taxi fare. Hey, I am a salesman, it's the way I think!! Can't help it! Please forgive me.
Okay... YES Ranger X, I would love to meet you. Theyain and his friend and my son and I are all rooming together at AnthroCon, as it turns out. We plan to go out to dinner on Thursday or Friday night (haven't got it nailed down yet) and I would like to invite you as well. Your dinner's on me! I and my Feline friend will be arriving Thursday around 11:25am and would greatly appreciate a ride to the Westin. We will be packing fairly light, and would gladly contribute gas money. I'll be coming in on Delta flight 1560.
I will have my Laptop, Fursuit, Clothing bag, and possibly a small bag for my 'non-suit' tail and plushies.

permalinkI will be flying in on the 4th my plane will be ariving around 3:02pm it will be only me and all I'll have is a big duffle bag that will have my suit and clothes in it and a backpak that will have my laptop in so would you think you would be able to give me a ride from the airport this is actually going to be my first con and my first time in pittsburgh so I have no idea were everthing is so if you could I would really greatful
