Call for Video Games and Equipment.. and People!
Hello all you gamers out there.
We have several great tournaments lined up for the Video Game Room this year. Thanks to everyone who are donating their consoles, games, controllers and time to make the tournaments happen.
That said, here is the official call for some generous individu-furs to loan the video game room some equipment for general use during the weekend. Here's the short list of what's really needed:
PS3s and Controllers
XBoxes and Controllers
Wii Nunchucks and Classic Controllers
Any Rock Band or Guitar Hero equipment
Any party-style, FPS or other quick/fun games
To make sure your equipment is safe (and returns to its rightful owner), we will be tagging everything that anyone donates with their badge number. All games will remain behind the main table and will be switched out by staff. We will also be watching the room like a hawk.. or wolf or dragon or turtle or whatever happens to be watching at that time. ^_^ We could also use some volunteers. If you plan on spending an inordinate amount of time in the VG room anyways and don't mind watching everyone instead of playing for a little while, give me or Turtyl a message or email letting us know when you'd prefer to help.
See you all there!
'Kiric
Is there any information if someone was to volunteer for X hours to get like discounts on admission? Or all weekend for that matter of working it.
We can only offer memberships for the next year. 10 hours gets you a 2010 T-shirt; 15 hours gets you a free membership in 2011!
I might be able to bring an XBox 360 and Rock Band controllers (and game) like last year. Depends how I get to AC (still figuring that one out
).
That would be great! The room's general hours are 10a-10p starting on Friday. We'll have some setup time Thursday and will post those times when we figure them out ^_^
If after thinking very hard you decide on getting shot out of a cannon in the general direction of the con, please take video as that would be the most badass thing ever.
I'll definitely have my 360, hard drive, drums with cymbals, mic stand/microphone, guitar controllers, and possibly my bass. Which works out well, considering I'll be running the Rock Band tourney/watching the video game room for hours on end.
I was also sharing it so others can know what I'll be bringing, just in case they'd prefer to bring their own. I want to keep the wear on instruments at a minimum, or at least distribute it between more than just my own. I know people who treat theirs immaculately, and on the other side, I've wanted to take controllers away from a few furs. That's why the etiquette signs are necessary.
I can bring a Wii controller and nunchuck.
I don't particularly want to have to pack the extra luggage, but if it gets dangerously close to the event and you still need 360 GH:WT drum/mic/guitar contact me as a last resort option and i'll see what I can do. I also have GH:WT and GHIII games for 360, and GH2/3 for PS2, as well as a single wireless controller for ps2.
EDIT:
I can definitely bring Wii controllers/nunchaku/classic controllers if still needed. they don't take up space.
In my opinion, I'd leave the GH games/drums at home. There are definitely those who prefer the feel/gameplay of the newer Guitar Hero games, but last year lacked anyone trying to usurp Rock Band for video game room supremacy. Though if you want to bring the GH:WT guitar, it'd be appreciated, considering people like a choice between guitars.
I remember a while back, someone suggested that I bring my PS2, DDR games, and mats for the VG room. Should I not bring them?
We own an old DDR mix and some PS2 pads as well. We were kicking around the idea of bringing them, but I don't think we have one of the better mixes from that era. If you want to bring your game/pads we'll have a PS2 available.
No Classic Gaming?
I might be bringing a NES with me for friends to mess with in our hotel room.
If time works out for me, since I'm already working on the tabletop gaming area, you guys wanna borrow my NES or whatever classic console I bring?
I can picture a bunch or fursuiters having a mini Duck Hunt contest or dancing to the background music of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

I recently purchased an FC Twin (plays both NES and SNES games), though I'm not sure if I'd want to risk bringing it/my games. Though if I do, I'll probably bring Kirby Superstar, Gradius/Life Force, Super Dodge Ball, Super Mario Bros. 3, and TMNT 2 and 3.
BRILLIENT idea!
I can bring games and conrtollers if needed. Those running the room let me know if you decide to do some retro gamming!
Any retro gaming platforms are welcome in the gaming room ^_^ You guys are making me want to pull the Dreamcast out of its box!
I have 3 of those, at one time I had an idea to network them together, but never got around to it. If anyone wants, I can bring the Dreamcast, and unfortantly my Atari's switch just died, so I have to rummage one up before I can connect it to a TV again.
I'll have to find the Dreamcast games, but I know that I have GTA 1 and 2 for it and I think crazy taxi, among other games.
Lionman
If you can't find them, I hear it's easy to burn working Dreamcast games. It's running Windows after all.
Hydro Thunder, Centipede, Sonic Shuffle, Power Stone 2, are some good multilayer games, and yes I do have them.
I also have Metal Gear Solid for Dreamcast.
Anyone remember Michael Jackson in Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Round 2 ?
Classic gaming? Heck, I still have an Atari 2600 that works
With 150/160 games.
Lionman
Heh, nice.
You have E.T. ?
Yes, I do. I keep it locked away under 10 locks. never want to see that game again
Lionman
Eh, the marketers and all the adults can say all they want about E.T.
From the standpoint of the kid, i can tell you that was paws down the WORST game ever produced. Even Pacman and Centipede held my attention for a mellinea compared to that game.
What all adults contine to forget to this day is that they are not necessarily making games for themselves, kids at heart are still not the "adult" that our parents or grandparents were/are. There are certain things that I expected from a game as a kid, even if I didn't realize then and I continue to expect that now in my "adult" years.
Lionman
A little off topic, but go to Google's homepage and you can play Pac-Man today in the Google logo!
No quarters needed.
WOW!!! A joystick would help though.
hey Lionman what part of northwestern ohio you in? i'm in northwestern ohio! i'm in van wert
Update for anyone interested: I just picked up a RB2 wireless Stratocaster guitar from a thrift store, works perfectly, for five dollars. So anyone who requires solo buttons can rejoice. Only things missing were the battery cover (not really a problem, or can be fixed with tape), the guitar strap, and a knob for the strap; I liberated the latter two pieces from my RB1 Strat.
Sweet! I may be able to be useful for once.
If you are interested, I can bring 2 original xboxes + cables, several controllers, and a few games. Both of these xboxes are modded, so they wont play nice with xbox live, but they do run fine with system link games. They both have Kiltrocity2 installed on them if anyone is interested in giving that a shot. I will be there a day early and be leaving late Monday, so you can use them for the full duration of the con.
let me know if you are interested, I am happy to provide more detail.
Thanks!

Very cool! We'll be doing some setup on Thursday (times coming soon, promise!) and the room opens for gaming at 10a. You can drop them off any time. Thanks!
K sounds good. See you guys Thursday.
Is that to say the game room opens on Thursday, or will we just be setting up in advance for Friday?
The VG room is only opening for setup on Thursday... that being said, anyone who brings equipment over that day, or just stops by to help out will probably be called upon to make sure the TVs and systems are working. ^_^;
I'm all for helping make sure the televisions work. Even if it takes a few songs to do so.
Edit -- Do you still want me to watch the video game room for extended periods of time, since I'll be there for extended periods of time?
will there be Modern Warfare 2 perchance? I'd love to challenge my fellow gamer furs.
I forgot to add: I may be able to get Fuzion Frenzy (1 or 2) and bring that. That's always a fun game to play for a group.
Ok, here's what I have:
2 Dreamcasts, though only 1 can be used since I don't have 4 controllers, unless one of them only gets one controller and the other gets 2 controllers.
Power cords and video cords, but the TV/Monitor has to have composite Video (RCA jacks)
Games:
NES Nester| Crazy Taxi 1| Midway's Greatest Arcade Games Vol 1| Crazy Taxi 2| SNES games for Dreamcast| 4X4 Evolution| Unreal| Super Runabout| Ready 2 Rumble| King of fighters (Japanese)|
Sonic Adventure| Evil Dead: Hail to the King| Quake 3 Arena| Super Fighter Alpha 3| Armada| Jet grind radio| Chu Chu rocket| Star Lancer| Phantasy Star Online| DOOM DC Mega collection| Metropolis street racer| Dream SNES| The Spirit of Speed: 1937| Nester DC: 2,000 ROMS| Space Invaders| Heavymetal Geomatrix| Sega Rally 2| Silent Scope| DOOM for DC| Tokyo Extreme Racer 2| Soul Reaver: Legacy Of Kain| Radilgy| Air Delta Force| Pokemon ROMS| Rippin Riders| Half Life| Powerstone 1| Canon Spike| Giga Wing 2| Areo Wings 2| Outtrigger| Worms Armageddon| Zero gunnar 2| Snow-cross| Phantasy Star Online 2| Megaman Collection| Alien front online| NBA hoop| San Fransisco Rush: 2049| Railroad tycoon 2| Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing| Ikaruga| Rez| Dynmite Cop| Test Drive Le Mans| Confidential Mission
And that's all I have. I would also be interested in volenterring, is there a webpage here that I have to sign up on or that explains it to me?
Lionman
Now there's a laundry list! If you want to bring a few, I'd cherry-pick the best 3-4 for quick solo or multiplayer fun. We have a few controllers also. There is a volunteer page on this site (points over to the left nav) somewhere down at the bottom over there. In a nutshell: sign up at the con, pick up an hours sheet and keep track of who you help when.
