Want a taste of Anthrocon's Event list this year?
I'm so impressed with some of this year's events that Anthrocon will be hosting, that I thought I would give you a few teasers as to what is in store.
First off, our Fandom track has EXPLODED with new events this year. Major props to Arrow Quivershaft for really helping this area of convention programming. Here are just a few of the more than 20 events Arrow has helped line up for you this year:
* The Lion King Fandom Meet and Greet - for all our Lion King fans!
* Hybrid Havoc - for fans of hybrid critters
* Husky Meet and Greet
* Marsupial Madness
* Dragons!
and a whole host of events geared as Meet and Greets for various regional groups including: The NorthEast Furs, The Florida Furs, The MidWest Furs, Texas Furs, and the Ontario Furs!
Our puppetry track is growing with the introduction of the new Puppet Mini-Masquerade! It's a puppet show that showcases the talents of our fandom's puppeteers!
The Funday Pawpet Show LIVE! with Fluff and Such!: The fandom based puppet show that's been on the air since 1999...and still going! Featuring many of the FPS stars and the cast of Fluff and Such Productions.
Stand up Comedy Shows featuring such fandom stars as: Uncle Kage, 2 the Ranting Gryphon, JR, and Jibba!
A musical performace by Matthew "Hali" Ebel!
A panel that discusses fursuiting from a historical perspective in the fandom..with fursuiters who have been performing for 10+ years each!
A performance panel by one of the fandom's most venerable fursuiters...the one and only Yippee Coyote!
Videogame tournaments!
Tabletop gaming events!
The return of Anthrocon's own game show: Anthropoly!
Family friendly events including origami and craft workshops!
Art demosnstrations and workshops from Guest of Honor, James Gurney!
Puppetteering workshops with Guest of Honor Jim Martin!
Presentations from our charity and charity auction!
and sooo much more!
Hopefully this is getting you as excited about Anthrocon 2010 as we are! It's going to be a very fun convention this year, and we hope that you'll be part of it! Look out everyone! Here come the Modern Stone Age Furries!

I wouldn't say there is a huge amount of Thursday events. We will continue to have the mixer and dances plus a couple of other things (including necessary staff meetings), but keep in mind that Opening Ceremonies for the convention is on Friday at 11am. Much of the staff will be very busy getting equipment and materials set up on Thursday. Also we can't afford to rent a lot of our programming spaces for Thursday in addition to the weekend. It's simply a VERY expensive proposition to have more events out of the Friday - Sunday timeframe.
That space issue is the killer. I know I've offered to run stuff Thursday evening all but the first year its was in Pittsburgh, but the space hasn't been available.
And if there's a group in right before us, that also complicates the issue, even if they are physically out of the space on time. The hotel/convention center does need time in between to clean the space. We don't want to move in too fast and find out someone's hurled in the corner and it hasn't been cleaned up yet...
hey Kp, is the Women of the Fandom holding the panel again this year? i know alot of my female friends are very interested to know!
Hey KP, and also Arrow on behalf of the fandom track. It's really exciting to me too that the fandom track has re-aligned and made a good comeback after some bumpy in between years. I'm very proud to be a panelist as a part of that, along with co-host Fuzzyroo to offer the Marsupial Madness Panel to our con attendees.
Also don't forget I'm on for helping you KP again backstage Saturday at Masquerade, and am really hopeful that we will once again have some showcases of talent. Questionable, silly, rehearsed and ad-lib or a mix and match of all of those put together... I'll be there to help shuttle the performers to the stage.
Being a continued part of the AC Staff and trying to improve it for all attendees is always a good hope for us all year after year. Be excellent and bouncy!

I am not familiar with Arrow Quivershaft, but anyone who works that much for AC deserves something special. I will bring it to the con to personally present it.
That is SO awesome you guys are doing the Lion King Fandom meet and greet! As excited as I already am traveling cross-country for my first AC, seeing this on the programming list makes me even MORE psyched. Like a number of lion furs, I actually found the furry fandom through my involvement with the TLK fandom first.
Obviously, this is near and dear to my heart and I look forward to meeting up with other TLK fans from around the world.
Thanks so much to whoever came up with this idea!
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't schedule the Lion King Meet & Greet or the SecondLife Meet & Greet during the Masq. x.x
Edit: Or overlapping each other. x.x I BEG OF YOU KP.
Will do my best Stahi. I don't want our trusty stage ninja upset.
In reality, the schedule is based on a very complex series of criteria and requests that range from room and equipment needs to the host availability and other track specific events not overlapping. The schedule is still being adjusted based on some required event changes...so we don't have anything final available yet.

Oh, so you mean one of these:

If it were that simple, he might get some actual sleep at the end of it.
Me, i always imagine that the schedule construction process looks something like Ophelia's mad scene, or maybe Lady MacBeth's.
Nice! I saw a Dragons one! I was disappointed we didn't have an event like that last year
hey i see a lion king meet and greet on this post but i cant find it in the event schedule. what up with that?

Exactly what schedule are you looking at? The schedule for this year's con has not been posted yet so I think you are probably looking at last year's schedule. They should be posting this year's schedule pretty soon though.
i looked at what ever schedule they give you when you click on the schedule link >.<

Ok, currently that is still last year's schedule. They keep it there to give people an idea of what type of events they have at AC. They should be posting this year's schedule within the next week or so.
ok i feel really stupid now *folds ears back and looks at the ground* well then i cant wait to see the schedule when it comes out. this will be my first con i cant wait to go ^.^
