Would anyone get mad or chase me off (like sercuity wise or what not) If I carried a sign around with me that said free hugs?

As long as you aren't aggressively giving out hugs, I am certain nobody would care. I saw at least one fur last year with something similar.

Just to be on the safe side, I will always ask if someone wants to be hugged, and hugs are as far as I will go. Anything beyond that and I'm a bit disturbed by it.

I will always accept a handshake, too. ^^

I'm sure they could, but do we really need the con staff to initiate that?

In another very hug-friendly community i belong to, the tradition was that ppl self identified for that in a couple of different ways. At first, for a long time, we'd wear our nametags upside down. Then, when other ppl started complaining about reading upside down nametags, we started putting an H with a circle around it somewhere on the front. As long as we can find a spot on our badges with light coloring, we could do the same thing here with a sharpie.

Or if that seems too permanent, we could just put a little heart sticker somewhere on our nametags. Then you could peel it off later, if you decide you don't like being receptive to hugs from random ppl.

Let's don't ask our beloved staff to do stuff we can do just as well on our own. *snugs*

Eh I've been like this before I fully embraced the furry way. I like giving hugs.. Even to strangers (Mostly the elderly ladies it really makes them happy ^_^) But ya I LOVE giving hugs .. So nothing with being furry has to due with my love for giving hugs, but I may be giving them in my parital <3
