zipjay's 2nd annual guide to hotel tips/behavior

ok first for those who didn't read my post last year: im zipjay, i work at a hotel as security.. i made a smaller post last year that involved how not to behave inside the AC hotel so this year i decided to make it bigger to include more things.. but before i begin:

NOTE: i'm not making up rules here im simply making this post as a guide to hopefully help make everyone's con experience smooth, to keep the furry fandom from looking bad on the westin and other staff and so you guys can see it through the hotel's eyes. Also note that i'm not yelling at anyone here again it's simply a guide.

The guide was written with the help of the auditor at the hotel i work at. i plan to add more to this as i think of more. All of these are based off experiences we have had with other groups and whatnot.

1. Please be quiet in the hallways, treat each room door as if the occupants are asleep (meaning don't go stomping or making other noises) remember we have other people in the hotel besides the con goers.

2.Don't leave trash in the lobby for the hotel staff to clean up

3.Return bell carts (hotel owned luggage carts) to the place you found them.

4.Don't throw anything off the balcony

5.Don't play the lobby piano (i noticed people were playing it last year even though there was a sign saying DON'T PLAY PIANO

6.Don't use the pool emergency equipment for play

7.Don't ask for a large request like 10 towels and 10 blankets and 5 pillows in the middle of the night. Hotel staff (at least at mine anyway) are short at night and can't be busy filling outrageous orders for towels and blankets and such.

8.Don't loiter in the hallways (it causes noise see 1.)

9.Make sure you have the right room door before knocking (don't laugh)

10.don't activate the dead bolt on your door and then let it slam behind you (big problem at my hotel)

11.Don't room jump. allow me to explain: room jumping is my own term for when people go from room to room constantly all night long and wont just stay in one spot. (Example: group a is in one room and group b is in another well they both wanna talk to each other so hey why not activate the dead bolts on their doors so the room key is no longer neaded and just let the door slam behind you each time someone leaves either room. while everyone else is on the floor hearing all this racket while trying to sleep) i dont think this will be much of a problem because i think most furs are gonna stay downstairs until their too tired to stand up:P

12.Don't let your room door slam period (see 11 and 1)

13.Use your 'Do not disturb' signs to tell housekeeping you don't want your room cleaned but do not keep the sign up all the time.

14.Don't use glue to hang up room signs

15.Don't make up crap to try and get a free room

16.Don't forcefully hold open elevator doors.

17.Don't deface the hotel property such as room number signs or face Kage's Rath!

18.DO report suspicious activity to the hotel, hotel security, event security, or police

19. ABOVE ALL: PLEASE BE NICE TO EVERYONE AT THE WESTIN FOR THEY ARE PART OF WHATS MAKING ANTHROCON POSSIBLE!

Also Kage wrote last year:

DO NOT USE A DEBIT CARD TO CHECK IN!!!!!
the reason? they need whatever amount of money the room costs PLUS enough to cover any possible damages (think of it as a deposit) so while the hotel room might be 450 for the whole con you might need 700 bucks or more on there to have your card accepted ALSO possibly alot of money might be froze in your account until you check out
