Next year when I can afford to go to AC I will be brining a friend with me and my parents will be driving us there. After that it will be me and my friend going to AC but from the Hilton where we would be staying it is about a 3 mile walk to the convention center. So is there any form of transportation from the hotel to AC or given the distance will we be stuck walking?

AC does not offer or arrange for any type of transportation to and from non convention hotels so you will be on your own for transportation. That will pretty much mean walking, getting a taxi or using public transportation.

If you don't mind me asking what is the room rate at the Hilton you are planning on staying at? The reason I am asking is because the convention hotels offer good discounts off of their normal rate and the furthest con hotel is less than half a mile from the convention.

Not to mention the fact that booking at one of the convention hotels helps maintain these hotel deals for others in future years; AC's deal with convention hotels is one where they give us a discount on rooms and we guarantee them a certain number of reservations at that price.

So...yeah, what nicona said. Westin! Mariott! Omni! Doubletree!

And since Doubletree is owned by Hilton, any benefits you'd get from staying at a Hilton (ie, Hilton Honours) would apply there as well. Plus, it's much closer.

hey, here is a thought and a question, has anyone considered bringing a bicycle? and a question for the hotel staff, is there a place where congoers can lock up a bike? I mean I understand that they probably dont have a backroom set aside for just such a purpose, but anything close to the hotel entrance would do as the bellhops wouldnt have to actually police the bike rack, just basically say something if someone started walking along with a set of boltcutters stealing bikes from in front of the hotel.

I figure that people can store a bike in their room when at their hotel, but while at the con, im more concerned about where a person could keep a bike. If this isnt possible, no big deal, just had an idea, thought id fire it out there, see what staff had to say. Ive got other ideas on this matter if the hotel was willing to give this thought serious consideration.

I've not seen a bike rack anywhere near the convention center, so I suspect that's a no, unless you have a collapsible model you can carry with you. Even then, I'm not sure the hotel would like you carrying a bike around the entire time you're there.
