Vega"My fellow Americans, I come before you to speak on a matter of deep importance. Today, you can say 'Yes, we can!' You can make for shorter lines and greater efficiency for hardworking citizens of this great land. You can make your participation in a non-profit organization a better, brighter, and more efficient use or resources. You can Pre-register for Anthrocon, that's change we can be--"

"Wait, Anthrocon? I thought this speech was about that oil spill."

"No sir, Mr. President. Remember, you promised to do this speech after Xydexx hid that stash of cigarettes for you, to get you through the G-20."

"Shh! Michelle can't know about those, she still thinks I've quit. Fine. Fine. Where was I."

"Just read from the teleprompter, Mr. President."

"--we can believe in! Shorter and quicker lines, and no need to worry about cash at the convention. Only $45 for Attending, $95 for Sponsor, and $195 for Supersponsor - and only Pre-registered Supersponsors can attend the Luncheon with Jim Martin and James Gurne- How did they get James Gurney? I wanted him for the G20 and all we could get was Nicolas Sarkozy!"

"Uncle Kage has some connections."

"Damn. Okay, back to the speech. --Jim Martin and James Gurney. It's the right thing to do, not just for Americans, for but the world- Pre-Register at https://www.anthrocon.org/registration today. It's so easy, I could do it from my Blackberry. *Beep boop bip beep* And I'm registered myself now for Anthrocon as [REDACTED BY THE FBI]. So Pre-Register by Sunday, June 6th . Yes, you can!"

"Is that it?"

"That's all, Mr. President."

"Good. Now get me out of this Portuguese Water Dog fursuit."

If you are registering online via the form, it needs to be done before or on Sunday.

If you are mailing it, it needs to arrive no later than Monday, June 7th, or we cannot guarantee it will be processed before the convention. If you are mailing in a registration, send it IMMEDIATELY and via Priority Mail to our Post office box (Available here: http://www.anthrocon.org/contact/usps ) . If you cannot mail your registration on Friday or Saturday, it is best that you do not mail it, and register on-line or prepare to register On-Site.

The mongoose is right. I'm stopping by the Post Office on Monday, June 7, and then there is a good possibility that I won't be able to do so again before the convention. Anything that arrives after that day may well be left sitting in the box until July.

Actually registration doesn't open until Thursday afternoon. But yes, the on-site registrations line are that ungodly long on Thursday.

As Nicona mentioned. Last year, Pre-Registration opened at about 1pm, and On-Site registration began at 2:45pm. This year, we are shooting for a noon open for Pre-Registration, and On-Site to open sometime between 1 and 2pm.

On-Site opens a bit later for a few reasons. Mostly, it is technologically complex, requiring servers, Validine terminals, and Attendee terminals to all be working in concert, as well as the badge printers to be properly functional. Whereas Pre-Registration can open with myself, a 10-cent bic pen, and a hungover ferret.

Just plan on being in line for at least an hour. On the upside there will be plenty of furries for you to meet while you are waiting.

So yes, the lines on Thursday morning (before opening) might get ungodly long. Unless Chiaro has some tricks up his sleeve.

And I suspect we won't be contending with a drunken ferret, so much as a drunken leopard troubleshooting the registration server! Laugh

To note, the convention center doors do not open until about 8am. This should stop ridiculous lines from forming too early in the morning. After you arrive at 1am, i recommend you go to your hotel room, get a good night's sleep (You'll need it later!), wake up, get some breakfast or lunch, and then head down towards Registration. No programming starts before 7pm on Thursday, anyhoo; lines are at their longest from noon-3pm.

... while it's quite legal and fine after you've turned 18 to not inform your parents you're attending Anthrocon, I find it odd that you'd feel the need to disguise attending from your parents. While I don't know your exact situation, I have the feeling your parents would not make as big a deal of it as you think, if you properly presented attending Anthrocon to them.

Also, if you are traveling a distance to Anthrocon, it's really a good idea to let your family know where you are going.

oh they know. my father has banned me from going because he thinks i'm not ready yet. he's the type that only looks at the bad stats. "oh, you could be killed. oh, you could be mugged." etc. so i have to plot to get there. i'm going up to my mothers for a week (maine), telling my dad i'll be gone for about two weeks, and going to the con on my way back through. it should work on account of my dad not talking to my mom and not wanting to talk to her

What kage and chiaro said. *sighs*

You're 18, so strictly speaking, we can't stop you from doing this. What we can do, however, is tell you that we *really* don't recommend it until you're no longer living with your parents.

It's pretty destructive to your relationship with your dad--just imagine how completely terrified and furious he'll be if he does find out, and how badly that would reflect on the fur cons you so desperately want to attend.

It puts your mom in a really awkward position, since it can look like she approved of your plans even if she didn't know about them.

And since your dad is basically your landlord for a very sweet living arrangement...Well.

Not knowing you or your dad at all, i would suggest instead that you try to work with him to understand his worries and see if there are things you can do to answer them, like keeping your cell phone on the whole time or staying with friends or inviting him to come along and see what a fur con is like. And if not...there will be other years.

here are some of my solutions for your questions. i'm going to AC in the middle of a trip to my moms house (1000 miles away from here), both me and my dad life in the basement at my grandmas house so he can't kick me out, mom knows everything and has said she will deny knowing that i was forbidden, and i've already paid for my room. hope this eases everyone's worries

Depending on the ferret's gender, I might be able to find... other... uses for one aside for opening up pre-registration! Evil

I'm almost as intrigued by the idea of finding a 10-cent Bic pen in this day and age!

I just purchased a pack of 30 pens for $2.29 just Thursday at Walmart. They.. may be Bic. It was Thursday, I can't be expected to remember that far back.

I want to pre-register, but the system won't let me; it keeps turning away my security code on the back of my credit card, and I know for a fact that said code is correct! Help?

[EDIT: Check that. Apparently it went through and billed me every time I tried, despite the error message. Now if I can just get that refund...]

It has not billed you when it was declined; but it has placed a 'hold' on that money. I've received your email about it and will respond shortly.

Yippee!!!

Got my supersponsor confirmation email on Friday. (For some reason, the check hasn't cleared my bank yet. But don't worry, Chi, the money is and will be there!)

OK. We know more or less when the pre-reg line is going to open. But when will it close?

That info would really help with my (and other Furs) travel planning.

10 PM, you say? That's good to hear! That's plenty late.

Am driving from Connecticut to the Pitts of Burghs with a side trip through northern New Jersey to pick up my roomie. ETA sometime Thursday afternoon/early evening. And I want to get checked into the hotel before having to worry about picking up my badge.

Thanks!

You shold make it to Registration in plenty of time.

We're also, probably, moving forward with a plan to have pickup of Pre-registered badges available from 11pm-2am on Thursday and Friday nights in ConOps, room 309, in case Pre-registered attendees arrive very late and don't want to wait until morning. Still trying to work out a kink or two in the plan for that (so no one COUNT on it) but it should be available.
