All hotels now full!
We have sold out our room blocks at all four of our hotels, and at this time they are not taking any new reservations. We apologize to those of you who may have waited until the last minute and found that it came up faster than any of us anticipated. The next closest hotel is the Hampton Inn & Suites at 1247 Smallman Street, about 3 blocks east of the Convention Center. We do not have an official room block there, unfortunately, so you are on your own. At this time Hotels.com is showing a nightly rate of $127 plus tax although that is subject to availability (and subject to change).
In just over two weeks we'll be able to say, "Welcome to Pittsburgh, the furriest city in the USA!"
If it doesn't pose a problem to divulge this, may I ask how many rooms/room nights we have booked in our official blocks across all the hotels? It would be interesting to know just how much space we're taking up!
The information may simply not be available to the con. We know that all the rooms in the convention blocks are reserved but... we won't know last-minute cancellations. (I had emergency surgery on the Wednesday before the con a few years back.) We can't tell whether all rooms are taken for every night. That is, the block might be filled Friday and Saturday nights, but have gaps on Thursday and/or Sunday. The con knows the rooms are taken, but the number of room nights data may simply be unavailable to them. Not all of the hotels can (or are willing to) share all this information with the con; it varies by hotel and/or chain.
Edit: addition. The closest we may ever get is the information contained in
http://www.anthrocon.org/node/4867
That having been said, our count right now is 3851 room-nights, for 939 rooms.
Each year our total count of room nights has always been about 90% of our total attendance.
Well, no, it was a legitimate posting to be sure! That's how many rooms we have now, but you very rightly pointed out that this may change by the time the con comes about. We HOPE that people won't cancel at the last minute -- after all, if they do, they lose their room deposits.
That having been said, our count right now is 3851 room-nights, for 939 rooms.
So if you figure an average of about $140 a night(after taxes) that comes to about $539140 spent just on hotel rooms.
Each year our total count of room nights has always been about 90% of our total attendance.
If this is the case again this year the math would work out to almost 4300 attendees.
That having been said, our count right now is 3851 room-nights, for 939 rooms.
Each year our total count of room nights has always been about 90% of our total attendance.
So I can safely assume we'll have 4278 and 8/9 attendees, right?
It's gonna suck to be that last guy.
He *almost* made it to Reg on time.
Hooray for pre reg!
Is there, like a Guillotine hidden somewhere along the reg line? >.> You let the poor guy get in two arms and one leg/two legs and one arm and just decided he wasn't fast enough to keep all of his limbs? D: That's just being sadistic. Funny. But sadistic!
Is there, like a Guillotine hidden somewhere along the reg line?
We have little patience for line jumpers.

My husband and I chose to stay at the Hampton Inn this year thanks to a wonderful experience last year, and we did not mind the three block walk in fursuit. We got lots of honks from passing motorists, and we got to ham it up a bit for them. XD
The Hampton also has free breakfast, even a bagged breakfast if you're on the go.
