Hey, everyone!

Part of the fun of Anthrocon's new Sandstone Club is that it provides a venue for live musicians to play music that might not fit in the main room dances. This year, we're lucky enough to have the talented Flare Starfire performing in the Sandstone Club for your enjoyment!

Flare will be opening the Sandstone Club on Friday at 9:00pm and playing until 10:30, setting the mood for the Sandstone club with relaxing improvisational piano. If you're worn out from a long day in Artist's Alley and stressing out trying to finish all those badges on time, you might want to consider dropping by during Flare's set to relax and unwind while you work.

In Flare's own words:

Hey there folks Smiling You might recognize me as the piano playing horse that's been hitting the stage at cons like Further Confusion and Furfright, or just the guy sitting behind the grand piano in a shire suit. I love helping people relax with my soft improvisational music, so I hope you'll come have a listen at the Sandstone Club, or drop by the Masquerade to see me perform! I also run shirerecords.com and my web show, Equine Musicianship, from my house near Yosemite National Park in California. I'm self published, and I have a 7th CD releasing here at Anthrocon. If I'm not out playing piano, I love collectible card games, so catch me in the gaming area for a round of Pokemon, Yugioh, or Magic! Anthrocon was what got me started in the fandom way back in 2002, so it is an honor and a privilege to now be supporting the convention with my music! Thank you!

So come on down to see Flare in the Sandstone Club!

This soggy old greymuzzled otter gives his shire-horsie friend an enthusiastic thumbs up!

At last year's FurFright, he not only tickled the ivories for us during our version of the supersponsor's luncheon, but also won third place in the masquerade! (Actually, because first and second were a tie, I count it as second place.)

Everyone. Please check Flare and his music out. This guy is GOOD!

Since it is improvisational, his music is very difficult to describe. But it is absolutely beautiful. The music comes out of his brain (or, perhaps, from somewhere deep within his soul), and comes out of his fingertips (oops... sorry... HOOVETIPS) in the most amazing fashion. He seems incapable of hitting a wrong note!

P.S. Does the Sandstone Club have a Wine & Cheese bar?

No?

Darn!

'cause that would go really well with Flare's music.

Edit:

Doh!!! How did I forget to write this!?

Flare Starfire will also be one of our Guests of Honor at this year's FurFright!
