Overall anthrocon was a great year, but I only had a few things that I found were not appropriate.

Me and my mate were suiting, and he was getting sick. So I made him take off his head and told him to get the to them asap. He was over heating and getting dizzy. He went to the elevator line in the westin and was told to go to the end of the line. Why? He was in suit still just minus head. I have seen plenty of other suiters do this. I am curious why he was denied.

Also no security monitored the elevator to the convention center. A group of us waited a long time for an elevator, when getting on, my mate held the door for the fursuiters to get on, then some jerk jumped our line literally PUSHED my mate out of the elevator before he got in. I looked it up and this fellow also does work in for convention. So I find it very rude to do this if you know better.

Lastly, I was very sad that the roof top drum circle and dance was so limited. We had maybe 6 players and 8 or so dancers and the rest spectators. I think that if you were contributing to the event you should have been allowed up. I understand the reason to limit it.

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

Well I was told there was a 35 person limit for the event. There were about 6 people playing drums/instruments, about 8 people dancing (myself included) and the rest of the 35 sat around and talked. we had 3 people taking footage. but really. it was such a small drum circle. I wish more people could have been allowed up if they were at least playing music

Don't blame us. Blame "Mr. H."

My understanding was that the convention center asked that the event be so limited, because that was as many folks as they felt they could monitor at once.

If the convention center says "we want no more than X people up there at once", security has to abide by that, regardless of whether those X people are participating or standing around chatting. Maybe we need to rethink the location for next year?

I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around this report. Are you saying that someone saw a person in suit who had popped his head and was very visibly and obviously in distress, and did not allow him on the elevator?

Describe this person to me.

well he was obviously pale, he said he remembered going to the front of the line with his head in in hands cause he was getting nausea and dizzy in his head (he was overheating). He told them he wasn't feeling well and the man running the line told him he had to wait. Its all he remember. It just erfs me. We aren't mad about much really. It just didn't seem fair.

if you can even let Kage know what time of day it was, the person you spoke to could be tracked down.

Yes, date and time would be helpful in narrowing it down. We won't be able to tell exactly who was involved, but we can get a targeted message out to the folks who were on that duty at that time. We stress to all volunteers that such circumstances should get priority handling, but shit happens. I'm sorry for your friends discomfort, and we'll continue working to improve elevator service in general.

Do note, however, that there were at least two occasions when all attendees were held back from the elevator because we needed one for medical emergencies (actual 911 calls, ambulances, etc). When that happens, we pretty much have to halt all elevator traffic until we can get one to the critical floor involved. If your friend was trying to get onto the elevator while we were handling one of those, he would have been held back.
