Question about directions?

Well, this was originally to ask about directions from all points west of Pittsburgh, but I guess MapQuest was actually able to find the convention center by name. ^^;;; I would still like to ask for any advice or tips on travelling in the area. For reference, if it helps, I'll probably be taking I-70 straight out to PA. Are there any roads/areas/neighbourhoods to steer clear of? Any recommendations of shortcuts or points of interest? Advice on where to park? Anything would be appreciated! >^_^< Thank you!!!!!!! ~Macha |

A little recommendation for you and everybody, DO NOT EVER use MapQuest, it is one of the worst mapping services. Google Maps is much better. To see some of the places Mapquest sends ppl *shudders* not pretty

Gaaahhh. Funeral. I meant funeral. Kage isn't nearly old enough for that.

Or about AC 2004, when Mapquest left out a critical exit and sent quite a few first-time attendees (myself included) to the wrong part of Philly

Or the year when Mapquest directions led me on a very picturesque but convoluted route to the place where we rented the truck for the Art Show equipment. When I asked the rental clerk if there was a better way to get back, he said "Oh, you got Mapquested, eh?" Turned out the rental place was on a main road that led straight to the highway that ran past the hotel.

permalinkYeah and there was this time Google Maps had tried to make me take an 8-mile detour for something that was in the other direction. Or how Google Maps STILL does not have the correct address of my place of work, placing it several blocks over from where it really is.
Nothing is perfect, and while I believe all the stories I hear, so far Google has done me no good, and Mapquest has never done me wrong.
There is no truth

The best part about google is if you submit some correction to them, they will usually do it! Especially for businesses

Lol, yeah, MapQuest has sent me on a few wild goose chases in the past (no offense to the geese). That's why I just used it to look up the address of the place (and judging from the map on the convention center's website, MQ at least got that much right!). I generally like to just map out a place and then plot my own route when possible. I just wondered if there was anything I should watch out for on the way or once I get there. ^^;; Hehe, thanks for the stories though.

If you reach Philadelphia, you've gone too far.
Due to my prior experience with Mapquest, and my lingering distrust of any mapping program, I usually check my route with three mapping programs: Mapquest, Mapblast, and Google Maps. Usually that combination gives me something close to accurate directions.
