First time was a Blast!
Hi guys!
Well I attended AC2010. I went in without judgement or expectation, I was really blown away, I had a blast! :3 I only attended saturday from oh about noon til about 9pm. I am a hardcore raver so i was a bit sad to miss the "rave" as i hear its more like a real rave rather then the typical convention rave. Hopefully Ill catch it next year.
All in all, Im glad i went and will be attending the entire weekend next time. If anybody local would like to meet up, hang out, have a beer. Im from Aurora Ohio (yeah seaworld/geauga lake). Hoping to make some Furry friends to attend with next year.
Lets see what else... Oh im the "Furry Ambassador" from the EVGA forums. (Yep i build monster OCed Watercooled computers
)
By a real "Rave" I mean, at least one headliner (not just a local act) dj, and real turntables (cdjs or vinyl) Taken as a serious venture (as is any music event)
Most convention raves ive attended are one or two acts, usually just a local act, no gear just ipods and laptops. Taken lightly, as some entertainment that doesnt take away from the convention.
I hope that makes a little sense.
I hear that antrhocon is a bit more of the real rave with a serious attidute on the music, and preperation of the event
Im excited to see it for myself
For the record, our main stage setup this year was two Technics 1200s with Serato 2, two Pioneer CDJ-1000MK2s, a Pioneer DJM600 and various laptops running NI Traktor and Ableton Live with an outboard APC40. For lighting we had several moving head spots and scanners, three full-colour lasers and a fogger that managed to somehow make the entire DLCC hazy. Flanking either side of the stage were two massive projector screens with visualizations Add our something ridiculous like 60,000 watts of audio to the mix with 6 18" direct-fire subs and I think we take ourselves seriously. :]
It came together something like this:
For the record, if you really want to get technical, a real honest-to-god rave is actually a smaller, more local party with local DJs thrown on a local budget whereas something this massive qualifies as, uh, a massive... which is pretty much the opposite of a rave. Back when I was doing this legit raves would have me out meeting folks in my car in a parking lot, then following a lead to a field or something where they had a basic audio setup and a few badass local DJs who were importing stuff from overseas that was really hard to get :]
Yes! that is exactly what i want to hear
Ive been doing the rave thing since the old days of local shows out in the cornfields to the new more mainstream current times. I actually attended HTID in the sun 09 (in spain, coming from ohio that was quite a trip for a party).
I just love to see a actual show put on with real dj's using real turntables (cdj or vinyl) rather then the usual itunes tracklist. Antrhocon looks to be taking it very seriously! I cant wait to go next year, hopefully gonna be the highlight of the year
Oh and btw- I have a degree in Audio Engineering, would love to help out next year. Who do i need to talk to? Thanks!
General Talon, though the mixer's already pretty well staffed by our resident audio engineer Oddy. :]

I'm curious. What's the difference between a furry rave and a real rave?
