End-of-Con Gaming Note.
Thanks again to everyone who donated equipment, volunteered or ran one of our great tournaments! We had over a hundred controllers, cables and systems as well as dozens of games donated from the fandom so we could entertain you all, and we hope we did! ^_^
We did have a couple of controller mixups, though, and some plans to fix that for next year, including some bigger signboards for posting schedules and other info.
In the meantime, could anyone who brought an XBox or games please check for a spare or mismatched game? Two games got switched and we'd like to get them unswitched.
We'll see you all again next year!

But I'm the one who OM NOM NOMs on electronics...
This should be a quick fix... by *Arrow-Quivershaft on deviantART

I believe all of the controller mix ups have been resolved and all hostages... er... guests of Uncle Kage's lost and found bin should be reunited with their owners soon. The swapped game is the only thing we're still looking for.

Awwwww
You guys never let me have any fun.
I wonder what would happen if you soaked a controller in butter and microwaved it... I think it's time to send an e-mail to the youtube show "Is it a good idea to microwave this?"
Edit: That includes my wiimote too right? I gave you two and only got back one. I have both of my nunchucks though.
Still love that I had a staff member get mad at me cause I kept telling him that he had to go give the game room staff his badge for the controller that I had grabbed quick to drop a player out of the NSMBWii game. Apparently being staff means you're exempt from game room rules.
Sorry, I never caught the guy's name.
EDIT: It was one of those moments where I didn't want to deal with him or stick around long enough to get caught up in him getting in trouble.
I know that this is going to sound sick but... Where the ale was the game room? i walked around that whole hotel for 3 days, and didn't sleep, did not see anyone play no games LOL
or even talking about the game room.
It was in the convention center.
One of the advantages of registering is that you get a nice bag with a booklet with maps showing where everything is, and a schedule showing when everything happens.
Yeah I got everything in a shweet bag, I normally look and save everything that iget from cons but this time I screwed up. I wish I would have just asked someone. Guess my mind was other places. I just chillied in the (tigerden)? Internet spot the whole Sunday morning
Depends on *which* game room you speak of. The Table top game room was in the convention center. The videogame room was in the Westin in the Butler Room on the second floor (the area with the grand piano). We tried to have lots to do for people with many different interests.
The badge-for-controller swap was new this year (so far as we can tell). I know it was a minor hassle for some people, especially in games where swapping in and out is fairly frequent. Overall people seemed to understand why we chose to do it and were fine about having us hold onto their badge while they used a controller. Does anyone have suggestions to make the system better?
KP, you need to sleep more, man! Hopefully the vg room will be more visible next year with the addition of a nice sign standing in the hall.

I actually thought that the system was elegant and intuitive. I'm planning to steal borrow the idea for Furry Fiesta, if at all possible.
I had an idea, though. How about a magnetboard with the various controller numbers on it, and some little magnets? I've seen them about the size of quarters. The system? When a controller is checked out, you put a magnet next to that controller's number. When it comes back, you take the magnet off. This solves the only problem I was able to see: sometimes, the controller numbers behind the desk didn't match the controller numbers that were documented. I think at one point I turned in my badge for one controller number and got a different number, simply because the one I was supposed to get was out somewhere already.
Good news everybody! I found my Wiimote! The couch ate it. All that's left is Left 4 Dead 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to get back to their proper owners.
How do you guys coil your wires? I got my stuff back and it was all coiled nicely. I was very impressed and a little mystified.
Ahh, you refer to the rarely-seen practices of the ninja-computer-builder, whose cables are hidden and components motionless. ^_^
'Kiric
Yes, I must learn the ways of the ninja-computer-builder. Will you help me Kiric?
I do not know the ways of the ninja computer builder (though i'm told it involves leaving most of the cord neatly coiled and tied behind the comp), but i've gotten a lot of mileage out of the fine art of samurai cable coiling.
Then again, i spend a lot of time hanging out with folks who do amateur sound at folk dances.
LoL.
I think the ninja computer builder and the samurai cable coiler are cousins.
Skeinchug - Ask me about it next AC and I'll show you how I coil. ^_^ Till then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgku_EHiCsU&feature=player_embedded

Yo! I have someone's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game.
I am missing my Wiimote and Left 4 Dead 2 CD.
I have been informed that there is an Gamecube controller being held hostage by Uncle Kage. Rumors report that if it is not claimed soon butter and microwaves will make acquaintances with the controller.
