You want weird? Giza and I are already starting to have anxious dreams. As we sleep, we arrive at the Convention Center to find nobody there. We find art being hung up outside on the street. We find Hall C either empty, or filled with some kinda lawn and garden show. We find a big wrecking ball taking down the Westin. We find an angry mob waiting for us because we got our dates wrong and are actually arriving AFTER the convention is over. Giza, any others? |

The most common one I seem to have is where I show up at the Westin and realize that I've forgotten some critical item.
Like... the truck full of equipment, having left it behind at a Turnpike rest stop...
Or... forgetting to write schedules for my staff...
Or... having the Dorsai Irregulars go on strike!

permalinkWait, would stuff like what Giza is mentioning be normal? =P I could picture a truck full of eqipment being left behind. Woopsie!

It hasn't happened yet, knock on wood.
My own truck-related dreams usually happen after the convention during the Post Traumatic Stress period. For about three weeks I'll sit bolt upright in bed, absolutely certain that we had left our rented truck sitting in the loading dock at the DLCC and were being billed for each day it was there. It usually takes several minutes for me to convince myself that, yes, it had been returned.

I guess that's the one advantage with a massive truck full of stuff--it's too big to misplace, and your butt tends to notice if it's not getting 5 hours of nonstop vibration.

permalinkAh yes I do remember the stories of "Bouncy the Wonder truck" from Kage last year. My question is will they be driving the same truck this year?

"bouncy" was the name of the Ryder truck that Kage and myself rode across the state of the PA in, from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.
For 5 hours.
I can recall right after starting out, while driving on the on-ramp to the PA Turnpike at about 35 miles per hour, and feeling the cab of the truck shaking violently, we both knew we were in for quite a ride.
Amazingly enough, I managed to fall asleep a few times during the ride out. (No, I was not driving
)
And there were no collisions with deer this time.

Bouncy wasn't involved in that accident. That equipment move involved a one-way truck rental.

That having been said, watch as this year someone manages to misplace it

If this year's truck is any relative of bouncy's, i think it's safe to say that that won't be accidental.

Heh, I now know how you feel. Last night I myself had a nightmare, a bit like yours in some ways.
IT started out with me in the back of a friends vehicle, going to some city. When we get there, the drop me off at the Westin Inn, and then I realize where I am. I go in and try to check in, only to remember that I don't have a room reserved. Then I remember that one of my friends i know has a room reserved, and I go looking for him. I find him, ask him about the room, and then I remember that my roomie, Eillo, is still at home. And then I remember that I don't have any money, which is worse. So here I am, somehow in Pittsburgh, with no money, no room, AC is about to start, and I can't go to it. And Then I wake up and for the briefest second, i thought that I had missed AnthroCon.
That was a horrible nightmare for me.

permalinkI had my first Anthrocon nightmare for this year. I dreampt that I was leaving the airport {which is strange because I drive to AC}, and I was hitch hiking to the con. I was picked up by 3 teenagers, who had a strang assortment of pets in their car; a big lizard, a scorpion, praying mantis, spiders, and insects of all kinds. The lizard made me nervous, as it kept licking my leg. The scorpion ate the poor praying mantas. As we were driving along we kept seeing dogs laying dead on the side of the road, all of them were german shepards. They dropped me off a few miles away from the con, which this year was being held in a huge bar. When I got there, I took a seat in what looked like a booth table from McDonalds. I got my con bag from the staff, and I remember feeling the exact same WOW that I get every year when I arive at AC. I stood up, looked around, and saw, 2 the ranting gryphon sitting alone. So I went, and sat down with him, and we started drinking, and talking. He said "It was great that we were able to spend some time hanging out, since my mate tried so hard to get us togather for my birthday {which is an interesting, and true story}, but things just didn't work out". I said "Yea it is great that we can hang out". Then 2 said "Where is your mate anyway". I started looking around, and didn't see him. Thats when I remembered that I forgot to pick him up, and bring him along. I knew he was gonna be pissed at me. Thats when I woke up

What an utterly ridiculous dream. '2' would NEVER be alone in a bar.

I dreamt to think of Anthrocon to be nothing like I remembered it last year... in an entirely different place... people knew who I was but I didn't know them. A disorienting experience.
There was one guy selling fursuits in the middle of the street... o_O

Last summer, July 5 through 8th I had dreams about AC. I forgot what happened in most of them, but I do remember one of them involved getting a masterlock for my room and another where I was fursuiting and I had lost my fursuit's head.

I heard a story that at Disney down in Florida that in the tunnels underneath the parks there's a room that has all of the heads of the mascots hung up on the walls. From what people where saying, it's one of the most morbid things you'll ever see in your life.

Good lord, I had another of those dreams last night.
I dreamed I arrived onsite at the Westin the Wednesday before the con, only to discover that it had been turned into a shopping mall.

I think you Kage and Giza need to chill out or something. You're worrying too much, everything will be fine. Save the dragon who'll lead the uprising over the bad quality of concession food. Or the fox who'll lean against and knock over some AV equipment in the middle of the Masquerade. Maybe the possibility of the turnpike being jam packed with 4th of july reavelers and nobody can show up except for UncleKage; hey maybe that's it!
Bwehehe, sweet dreams.
I kinda get the feeling now I'm gonna have one soon after reading these.

I've had some worry-wort dreams about the con. Usually I've forgotten my luggage, or forgotten my money, or forgotten what I was doing and missed all the panels and group get togethers, gotten the dates wrong and gotten there on the end of the last day, or got lost in some unknown town created entirely within my mind in which the con was being held for some strange reason and ended up never getting there at all!
But I'm not paranoid! I know you all think that... you're thinking that right now, aren't you?! >_> <_<

permalinkHasn't happened yet.. but it will.. It happens before EVERY con and it's pretty much the same thing I either a) forget where my room is or b) forgotten something important that I need (ie my fursuit!)
