Penn Avenue Crosswalk audio/video?
Okay, I could have sworn I saw a video while perusing this year's pictures on flickr, whose thumbnail showed a crosswalk. Could this have been a recording of the infamous "You may now walk like a dog across Penn Avenue"? Like a doofus, I didn't bookmark it or email it to myself or anything. Does anyone know about it, or have any recordings of it? I've love to hear it.
I personally heard the cross walk sign that Monday morning and it was saying "Penn Avenue. Walk like a dog across Penn Avenue." It was great. Just shows you how much Pittsburgh loves us.
I have not seen any videos of it unfortunately.
I believe this is not unlike another case of mis-heard lyrics.
Ask yourself:
1. Why would any one use the phrase "walk like a dog"?
2. What would those persons not attending and not familiar with Anthrocon think about such a vocal instruction?
3. Why do parking lot elevators have braile?
1. Not sure why they selected that phrase but it was what was being said, definitely not mis-heard. My mate was with me and we both heard it.
2. Don't know what the reactions were but it probably would have been fun to see. Although with all the people running around with tails and in suits I'm not sure how many would not have known what was going on.
3. This one is easy, the same as drive up ATM machines with braille on them. When the elevators (or ATMs) are constructed the braille is a standard feature that goes on every machine whether they go into an area where it would make sense or not. It is just easier and more cost effective to put it on all machines.
I definitely heard 'walk sign is on across penn avenue' which is also a perfectly reasonable expectation. I find it strange to say the least that Pittsburgh would do something that significant without mentioning it to the convention in some way.
I think we're very capable of falling victim to hearing something we want to hear :]
I can see both points of view; "Walk sign is on" does sound a lot like "Walk like a dog" if it is coming from something that is muffled/staticy. Hopefully I can find incontriverible evidence!
Luckily this silly fox from Norway have it on his video^^ lolz. Just uploaded it for you on YouTube...

Also used it in my Anthrocon video:

:c Aw, it DOES say "Walk sign is on." But at first listen it did sound like "walk like a dog."
It is indeed whatever you want it to sound like.
Thank you so much for posting!
You know what's odd? The first time I listened to that, I really thought I did hear "Walk like a dog across Penn Avenue." The next time, however, I got "Walk sign is on." And now, I can't hear it as "Walk like a dog" at all.
Maybe it's like that sleigh bell in The Polar Express, where only kids who believe in the Magic of Christmas(tm) can hear it
That's exactly what happened to me. :c
I stood there and shot video for a minute, but only heard "Walk sign is on to cross Penn Avenue".
It's near the end of my video start at 4:11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9d39u4eY3Y
I'm going to have to pay more attention next year; I agree the videos say "walk sign is on to cross", but I could've sworn they said "walk right across"
Wow. I must have been more tired than I thought when I heard it, it was pretty early in the morning. I guess I just heard wrong.

...*Heheheheheh!*...

I'm still not 100% convinced that it didn't just say 'walk sign is on across penn avenue.' Those speakers are really, really muffled.
Did we get any confirmation that this actually happened, or is it just speculation?
