I remember proposing 146.520 Mhz last year, but it was pointed out to me that maybe another frequency should be used so as to not bother local hams who are using it.
I think we ended up using 146.505 Mhz or something similar. Whatever frequency that was picked got posted on the message boards.
As for the Foxhunt, you'd have to ask YappyFox.

Yeah, using the calling frequency is probably a bad idea, even with low-power transmitters.
I have 146.460 in my records as the AC talkaround frequency, but I think that's a bit outdated (that was the frequency in '05).

I agree, i think it was up to me laster on frequencies to use... but i forget
when it gets closer iam sure we'll figure something out, just need to post it on the bulletin board at the con.
I do wounder if we should go with out tones? but it might be a little more secure with tones. no that it really matters, just wil cut down on possable QRM

If we don't use tones, I doubt I'll be on it much. I loathe static.

I'm not a big fan of tones myself. In fact, I never used them.
I hate having to jump through hoops in terms of configuring my HT just to transmit.

Giza, your gonna have to learn one of these days, all the repeaters in your area are tones, mainly for 131.8.
Putting a tone to a frequency on your HT isnt all that bad. I cna show you if you like.

Having to jump through hoops to configure a widely-used standard feature of radio systems is a consequence of poor UI design, in my opinion. It's the reason I will never buy a Yaesu product, they make the simplest of things so overcomplicated it just sucks the joy out of using them.
My Kenwood HT is so ridiculously easy to program, it's one of the things that attracts me to Kenwood radios. All the commonly used options (frequency, tones, offset, reverse, step) are readily-accessible from the keypad, and all the memory storage commands are also there. Takes less than half the time to program repeaters and such as my boyfriend's Icom does

well the attenna he was using is a yagi beam, its a very directional anttena.
What he was doing was that i was having him sweap back and forth while the fox was trasmitting and i was looking on the radio at the SWR signal meter. We would sweap to find the strongest signal then move in that direction. You using the signal meter to find the transmitter. Yes a scanner can be used if it has a signal strangth meter,(SWR)
infact i do beleive a few were using a scanner last year.
