Hi there.. im brand new to this site, and new to AnthroCon. Ive never been to a con before, and will probably go to AnthroCon 2011 (Yay!) But i havea few questions.
I will most likely be wearing a fursuit, is there anything i should know or learn before i come in one? Where should i go when i first get there? I just want some general information that i might not have seen here on the site. Smiling

And for an ID, i dont have my drivers licence yet (i might by the time AC rolls around but as of now, i dont have it) or anything like it. Could i use my school ID?

First off, take a solid read of our FAQ, located at http://www.anthrocon.org/faq . The answer to these questions and more is inside, but I'll cover some of the basics.

The basics of a fursuit: They are not necessary (less than 20% of attendees owns one) and take time and/or money, but they are fun. If you choose to get one, keep hydrated, wear it for short periods at first.

The first place to go when you arrive at Anthrocon will generally be to your hotel to check in and deposit your luggage; then you will need to go to registration to present your ID and pick up your con badge.

Anthrocon accepts four kinds of primary ID: Driver's License, State ID, Passport, and Military ID. even if you are unable to get a driver's license in time, you should very easily be able to receive a State ID (at a modest cost) or a Passport (costs a little more, but lasts 10 years and can prove very useful).

Also, if you are under the age of 18 at the time of Anthrocon, you will need EITHER a signed and notarized permission form from your parent or legal guardian, or a parent or legal guardian with you in attendance.

Hopefully you shall; but State IDs are also available from the same place (The local Department of Motor Vehicles). They're very similar to a driver's license for ID purposes, except that they do not permit you to drive. It's a good backup plan, though if you study carefully and train alertly, a driver's license is the most likely thing.

I wish you luck. I'd also like to attend AC 2011 (it would be my first time).
Too bad it's before I turn 18 (August). I'll need really good planning to smoth things out (I'd also recommend you to streamline the flight and hotel bookings, fursuit making, and plans for convention activities as much as possible). Your passport should do.
