Pitt. area furry can't change name

>>An Allegheny County judge denied a Green Tree man's petition to change his name to Boomer the Dog, saying it would cause confusion and have unintended consequences, possibly "putting the public welfare at risk." Gary Guy Mathews -- a 44-year-old fan of the "furry" lifestyle, which celebrates giving human characteristics to animals -- made the case to change his name in a hearing before Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald W. Folino on Tuesday. The judge issued a page-and-half denial late Wednesday afternoon.
>>Furries have become fairly commonplace around Pittsburgh, which for five years has hosted the movement's largest annual convention. But naming oneself after a fictional dog -- in this case the canine star of a 1980s television show, which Mr. Mathews impersonates in a shaggy dog costume -- is extremely rare.
Really, this guy is a LOSER and used to be a major online troll in numerous forums.
A prime example of the type of person we DO NOT want representing the fandom.
I'm glad he was denied. I'm not sure how well he could have conducted everyday activities with a name like Boomer the Dog. Just shows how anything can be taken too far.
Even if he was refused, he will forever be known as Boomer anyway. Or at least "That Boomer Guy."
He could have applied for Boomer for a first name and kept his last name. "See, that's my nickname
and I just want that for a first name." Who knows.
And btw those whose actual given surnames are Fox, Katt, Wolfe, Coon, etc. ...lucky. No need to change that, unless your fave species is different?
There's a kid I run into from time to time at trading card prereleases whose first name is Wolf. He must have awesome parents. XD
i said this on another forum & i guess ill say it here.
if you can name your dog Jonathan, then Gary should have every right to rename himself Boomer the Dog. for gods sake my dog's name is Carlos, & there are plenty of Carlos living in my neighborhood, & they speak Spanish. XD;
if this guy --> http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/captain-fantastic-claims-worlds-longest-name-993957.html can have the worlds longest name with 13 words in it, that all have to do with Superheroes, then let the man change his name to Boomer the Dog.
i dont see why he cant change it. thats all im sayin.
I see the judge's point. Confusion, both for him and for other people. People reading forms or applications would think it is a prank and pitch them. Perhaps he could just change his first name to "Boomer" and his last name to "Dog". Or his first name to "Boomer", keep his last name, and his nick name extension be "The Dog" (aka. Boomer "The Dog" LASTNAME)

can we please, please stop giving this guy attention.
