What follows are my pics for the skeleton of what will be my Dragon. Please let me know what I am doing wrong so I can improve. Sticking out tongue I have a general sketch of what I want the Dragon to look like as well. He will have a very stubby snout so in my frame it is very short. I thought about room in there for electronics and I have a plethora of old 3com switches that have very small fans in them. I am going to rig two of those to be where the nostrils are going to be on the Dragon. So they will pull air in through them to my face. I am still trying to figure out what to do on the inside of the maxillia and the mandible for support. I assume I will need a place to put my teeth for support. I also feel I will need more mesh around the back of my skull for support. I am going to grab some brads to make the jaw hinged to get a feel for fit today. Thanx for your time. Laughing out loud Pictures of the frame...

Due to economic recession and budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

I was trying to go for the more tradiotional New Years Chinese Dragon look.
I assumed after adding about 1" of foam around that snout for sculpting that would bring the snout out considerably.

And MY GOODNESS!!! Sorry about the size of those pics. I will down size them when i get back home.
On wife's laptop ATM.

Here are few of the pics I am going from..

Let me know if I should still redo the snout...

All righty. OVer night I have narrowed the snout and brought it out. The misses even agreed with you on the width and length needing to be changed.
I will post pics when I am home from work.

I also will add a palate to the maxilla region and support for future tongue and teeth to the mandible.

I have my two little fans and will mount and wire those this week as well. Pics coming soon.

I assume all internal mountings need to be complete before foaming in the muscle? Sorry, anxious to get started on that. Sticking out tongue

This is a rough scribble of my concept for the outfit I did at work this AM while slurpping coffee with some co-workers.
I have the New Years Chinese Dragon head and hands that I will be making here soon.

The Chinese Dragon Jacket with Frog buttons I am also doing from ground zero. It was difficult to find patterns for folk type clothing in central Ohio. But I did track down patterns for a civil war officer's jacket. Has the Mandarin collar and I am flaring out the waist of the jacket a few degrees and lengthing it. Also flaring out the sleeves and lengthing to have the cuffs. Debating between a cool red/black chinese fabric pattern and a deep green with designs pattern for the jacket ATM.

I will begin foaming tonight if time permits, on call this week. And then start on the jacket this weekend and some epoxy for eyes and maybe teeth. I want both to light up with LEDs.

I have temporarily added the jaw with some brads and rubberbands. What would be to permanetly attach the jaw and to use for elastics?

I might get rid of the bridge section connecting the Maxilla to the Forehead. Will see when I start foaming this weekend.
Also need to add a roof to the mouth with plastic mesh. And I also need to add some support to the mesh, possibly cardstock glued on?

I am concerned about my project so far. Not so much in the design or execution. But in my motivation.

I was wanting to build a cool costume for Halloween, and what proceeds is the offspring of that idea.
But as I grow to learn more and more about what it is to be a furry. I have to admit that my true desires have surfaced.

Being a guy it's hard to say something is cute and fluffy. There I said it.
I am a ferret nut, I have 3 of my own, and I love them dearly.

As I progress with the Dragon I find myself loosing intrest with it more and more. Jawdropping!

But, I find myself wanting to make a Ferret Fursuit more and more. Evil
I am starting from scratch, and may even change up on what I do for the base structure.

So I am asking all of the furry community here...
What is the most comfortable and solid design to start as the foundation for your furry head? Puzzled

I am no longer concerned about a Halloween costume. I want my fursuit. Sad

*wipes tear from eye* I was so tempted to embed the "One Of Us" clip from Freaks (1932), but I don't want to ruin this moment! It's so beautiful to see a mundane transform into a furry haha!

But anyway, I recommend finishing this Dragon project of yours, but with cheap fabric. It'll be good practice for when you make your fursuit.

But is the plastic mesh the best route?
Should I use another metod that would be better for long periods of wear?

for me the best thing is Matrices.net and a virtual magnifying glass. use the plasic canvas and count holes.

He looks a little serious. Maybe have him smile a bit?

Hmm, I can see what you are saying. I could go for cartoon eyes I guess.

I mean even sketching that with the shape of his mouth I can only get a happy look when his mouth is open. Then it resembles a smile.

Open-mouth with cartoon eyes would look great! The open-mouth designs look more happy in my opinion, though they are harder to design.

Well I started some shaping, This is my 2nd attempt actually. tried 2 other methods whcih did not pan out. So I had to remove all the foam and start form scratch.

I am still shaping the upper jowel.

I see a problem with how I want this to look. I added extra padding to the back of the upper jowel for sculpting. But I feel it should be moved closer to the anterior of those jowels. To give the snout a more puffy look.

I am making the suit to be a clown more or less.
I want to be goofy in it, and I want to entertain others while wearing it.

Cartoony with a splash of real is my goal.
But this is my 1st attempt. For all my effort it may come out looking like a Typhoon Class Submarine with all my modeling skill. Jawdropping!
