AC 2011 preformance request
ArcAttack, probably seen them (for the first time perhaps on tv, america's got talent)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJyYhcZwb7E
it would be just great if these guys would come to AC "11 and do a preformance.
i hope i am not the only one wanting to see (on AC)
and if they will come, i shure will volunteer to build thery preformance stage =^.^=
what about "Fighting Gravity"? its a bit like ArcAttack, but without the electricity. :3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW2XWcW6PbA
& we could use fursuits! 8D
Tesla-coil music is very nice stuff; I don't think it's quite the right thing for Anthrocon though.

i am going to say... probably not.
NO; Nien: Uh-uh, absolutely not, NO TESLA COILS!
I think that it is something like rule number 6 or 7 on the list of running a Science Fiction Convention, "No TESLA COILS, under ANY Circumstances!" If they get banned from conventions with a fairly high percentage of scientists and engineers in attendance, then I should think it most UNwise for a convention of Furry Fans, who seem to have the darnedest luck with such operator-friendly technology as elevators and escalators, to tempt fate in such a provocative way.
Although I have to admit, hurling thunderbolts on stage during a convention with a theme revolving around magic DOES sound tempting...
aren't rules there to be broken??
i am voluntarely submitting my fursuit for the project XD
just give me proper protection
ofcourse we can ask them to play specific tunes.....
but safety is something they take care of (they have experience on that, they played on more cons be4)
just give it a try, if they take care of the show (they probably will) you dont have to organise more.
but its a suggestion
, i wont come to AC only if they come XD(that would be lame)
Despite the common misconception, rules are not made to be broken. They're made to be obeyed.
Listen, if you're so anxious to have them at Anthrocon, here's what you do. First, you convince the DLCC that they should permit it. Second, you pay for the additional insurance they will demand for this performance. Then you pay for the rental of one of the unused halls at the Convention Center. Then you pay for the Union electricians to setup the equipment. Then you pay for the Union Teamsters to set up the stage and seating for the performance.
After you've paid all these fees (which I guess would run well over $10,000 and probably double or triple that), you then have to open it to public attendance so that Anthrocon has no association with it and no derived legal responsibility.
Am I just being a prick? No. These are the kind of things that the Anthrocon Board of Directors have to consider before they add anything to Anthrocon's set agenda. When you add in that neither of the acts discussed have any known relationship to furry, there's no chance.
The rules are in place for a number of reasons. One of those unstated reasons is so that Anthrocon won't be sued into bankruptcy and never happen again. That's why the response from Staff and Board members has been politely negative. If this were to happen and the slightest problem occurred, it could kill Anthrocon forever. It's not worth the risk.
In general we're unlikely to consider any acts without a substantial furry connection. (Tom Smith and Alexander James Adams have actually written songs about furries.)

Very neat looking but I could see where there would be some very important issues with a group like this.
1) Getting the DLCC management to allow such a performance within the DLCC. I wouldn't see such approval forthcoming but you never know.
2) Even if such a request was approved I'm sure that there would have to be extra insurance required that would have to be paid for by Anthrocon. Such insurance would not be cheap and would probably be cost prohibitive.
3) It is great that you would volunteer to put the stage together however union regulations in Pittsburgh require that all such work would be done by union members. A setup such as this would required a plethora of union labor to assemble/take down and would be very expensive.
A performance like this would be great to watch but I just wouldn't see it happening at AC, but then again I'm not on the board and it would be up to them to give a definite answer.
