Approx Resturant costs?
Ello there,
My Siblings and I will be going to this Con. To put it nicely I'm not from the area, Infact the Highest up north I've have been to attend a Con would be DC. I need an Idea bout the Average Budget per day per head should be *Comfortable zone ><* There is gunna be three of us and we are gunna be there for 5 days, My friend maybe Joining us and I'm trying to get the Information for him as well. Also can I get an Idea bout some of the Resturants/Fast Food Places that are around?
thank
Edit; I must say the Little Dancing fox is adorable!
Food-wise, I get by for about $20 per person per day.
Please note that I also buy 2-liter bottles of soda for my hotel room and go through those
across the con.
Also note that I don't mind eating cheaply across the con- you get what you pay for,
with the possible exception of the Golden Palace's buffet.
If you're a bit more discriminating, it can run you up to about $30,
and a bit more if you're going to eat at least one meal at someplace upscale,
like the hotel restaurants or whatever.
Operating budget all depends on how much you can hold yourself to with stuff from the alley and den.
If youre really running a tight budget, you can plan to pack out some prepackaged drinks and snacks and maybe even some Ramen or something that can easily be made into a quick meal.
Restaurants in the area range from your basic fast food to high-end steakhouse and seafood places, all of them a very easy walk away.
I confess i always feel strange about the $20 a day rule of thumb. I usually manage it without trouble; but of the 3 meals a day i eat, one is usually bought for me, which allows me some significant flexibility about the others. If i had to pay for all 3 meals, i'd probably make it $25 at least, so i have some padding to allow for one meal a day that doesn't come in a bag with golden arches on it.
Then again, it probably depends on your attitude towards the "stuff" part of your FRESH-T budget (food, registration, emergencies, stuff, hotel, transportation). If you usually spend all of that money right down to the penny and sometimes a little over, leave yourself more food money. If you usually don't spend all or most of your 'stuff' money, you can cut your food budget more closely and assume that a sit-down dinner with friends can pull from "stuff" money to make up the difference.
Either way, since this is your first year, i'd try to allow a little axtra padding all around. Better to have money and not need it than need money and not have it.
To note: http://www.anthrocon.org/node/5457/anthrocon-2010-dining-guide has information on local dining. While it may be out of date by the time Anthrocon 2011 occurs, it's a good resource for seeing what's about.
