A tough question:
If you could buy a nice fursuit, but Miss Ac 07, would you still go for the fursuit? You see, I will soon have enough money for AC this year, but I am not sure if I want to spend it on a fursuit. I am at an ends with my self.
Fursuits can wait as they are a commodity.
I really wanted a fursuit from the infamous Jared Ledger, but I think I'm going to wait out. AC is too important... so is paying bills, fixing my car, eating, and a new computer to replace this old dinosaur.
ouch, that is a tough one... if its your first trip I would say go to AC just for the Experiance, and if you been to AC, well, go for the suit. best advice I can think of...
Because Giza, Its all or nothing. I make only enough in one year to either go to AC or get a fursuit. Sooo yea. I could spend enough to buy the paws and tail and such, but i would no longer have enough to go to AC.

I agree with Aeon. I wanted a fursuit as well, but before i spend the money on one (about 2,700 in all now)
i went to AC05 to observe. See howl things work since i was totally inexperianced. Now i got a few cons under my belt, I can be more confident in going to a con in my own fursuit this year.
Different for everyone. Really.
My purely personal opinion? Fursuits will always be available, but there's only one AC07. And since there isn't much of anywhere else i'd wear a fursuit, i'd feel silly getting the suit and not having anywhere to wear it.
As many fursuiters as we have every year, the number of folks with ears, or ears and tail, or even just street clothes, always vastly outnumbers them. Why not just go and get your feet wet, see how it goes? If your fursuit is a big deal for you, and i sense that it is, you could always start the process of saving up for a special one (even if you have to get it piece my piece), and take AC as an opportunity to look out for some nice not-too-expensive options for that.
And if you really feel like you wouldn't feel comfortable without some sort of fur, my friend kitten stiched her own ears and tail out of some fake fur scraps, a plastic headband, and packing popcorn. I'd be surpirsed if it ran her more than $15, all told, and for that little, she can always upgrade later.
Of course, being scaly and rather fussy about my tail, fursuits have never held much appeal for me. De gustibus non disputandum. *grin*

There's always heads for sale in the artshow for you to bid on, and ears and tails are cheap and available in the dealers' den. I'd hit the convention, because if you only make X amount of dollars in a year, and its only enough for a fursuit, you A: Won't have anywhere to wear it, and B: Probobly won't have enough to afford everything you want(As extras and some kinds of markings aren't included in most vendors' prices). I'd postpone until you had a job that can afford to pay for something as excessive as a fursuit.
I like this idea
, but I like more full body fursuits, more, now, I'm working in my alter-ego =3.
and other thing, can send mixedcandy's fursuits to other countries???
or not??
=3
HEHEHE!!!

I notice that you didn't say "commission a nice fursuit", but rather "buy". Does this mean that there is an already extant fursuit, and time is of the essence if you wish to buy? Is it that good of a suit - does it fit your "fursona" that well? Or is it that you just wish to have a fursuit - any fursuit, so long as it's nice?
Either way - If you haven't been to a large convention before, particularly with the opportunity to see other qualities of fursuits as worn, and to talk to the owners or performers, then I'd DEFINITELY go to AC, and put off buying the suit until you have seen at least one large convention. Then save your pennies, and commisssion a "nice" one, tailor-made as it were, to fit your fursona and your body.

Why not buy just a head and paws, and still attend AC?
