Furs of New York State: UNITE!
Hello furries out there. I'm Mizu Astrum, a fur from Brookyn, NY. This will be my second Anthrocon and I'm excited to see what's in store this year. However one of the things that made my Anthrocon was meeting furries from New York, and I don't mean just New York City. So whoever wants to, maybe the furs in New York State should meet up and get to know one another. Use to live in NY? Come as well. Planning tolive in NY, You're welcome to join. In the tri-state area? You'll be hugged as well.

Check out the syracuse_fur LJ community. I know there's one guy who lives near Mannsville and hosted a meet at his place last summer. I wasn't able to make it, but I heard there were about half a dozen people from around central New York there.

Hey Hey all I am from Oswego NY, Oh the cold ice ridden never clear and always snowing Ice capital of Lake Ontario. I joined Syracuse Furs as Makoura somehow Ushuaia was already taken as a name on LJ. Is anyone doing any furmeets in upstate anytime before the con?
You'll have to keep an eye out on LJ for any Syracuse fur meets. We haven't had anything organized since mid October. I think there won't be anything until the warmer weather is in full swing. But I'm not in charge of that group, just a member.
You better be there! I haven't seen you since our group went horseback riding! Takatha, Bandit, and I missed you for the Halloween get together in Corning.

Well, one of the goals of this NY Meet and greet is to establish or re-establis these furry groups in parts of New York State so that we can communicate and network better.
I'm basically from the capital too - just across the Hudson ^^
I'd love to know more furs from the Capital area. =D

Hi guys, it's Mizu Astrum, your resident aqua wolf from New York City here to deliver a message.
As you know, I have been planning this meet-up for a while, and it's going in stages.
The first stage was to see who among those going to AC are from New York in the Anthrocon Forums and wouldn't mind meeting up.
And Stage 2 is near completion, which is gathering a list of all the fur groups on the internet in New York.
Now Stage 3 is to find responsible people in these furgroups or furs from different parts of the state and have about 3-5 people conduct this Meet and Greet, which will have the following Goals:
1. Gather furries from Different Parts of New York State
2. Identify the different furgroups in the state and what they cover geographically.
3. Organize and/or announce future furmeets and offer tips on furmeets
Stage 4 is to request this as an event to Anthrocon Programming and get the logistics of Meet and Greets.
Once getting those materials, Stage 5 will consist of creating icebreakers and come up with ideas to get furs to know one another, get furs more comfortable with one another, and different meet ideas, including a future state-wide meet among those conducting the Meet and Greet.
The last Stage of course is implementing this plan at Anthrocon.
So far, I know someone in New York City that would be up for conducting this event. So for Stage 3 to be completed, if anyone in the Long Island, Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, and so on want to help conduct this event, please reply here or via PM or my messengers.

That's actually the plan, but I'd like to know more information on the rules and technicalities of Meet & Greets/Panels at Anthrocon. I wouldn't want any hidden charges sneaking up on me. Plus, I'm looking for at least 2 others to help out with this M&G to make it a New York State thing rather than a New York City thing.
I would be willing to help out with the meet and greet. I must say though this is my first AC. I am a member of Buffalo Furs in Upstate NY. Let me know how I can help out.
Unfortunately, from what I've heard and seen... Most of the furs in New York who are willing to speak up, it seems they live east of the Hudson. I know almost a dozen furs in western NY that don't belong to this forum or any other. It seems that lately they are breaking up as a group and going their seperate ways.

There are so many more NY furres than I thought! I'm from Albany. Any other Albany furs? I was curious about a furmeet in NY, but when I saw "Zoo York" on someone's hat, my dreams were somewhat crushed. XD
In regards to that, I'm helping my friend @Party_Husky on Twitter start an LJ group for Albany. I'm helping setting it up, but as more furs register for the group, I'll relinquish control of the group to him or whoever in Albany wants to help manage it. well i used to live in New york and i vist Every summer around july right intime for AC instead of flying all the way from Florida T.T but yeah i visit my good ol Grandmother on the island around islip in suffok county and i think im still the only furry out on the island :c so yeah it would be PAWsome to meet others in NY

There will be a Meet and Greet of Furries in NY for AC this year. It'll be on Friday from 2-3PM. The current location is TBD until all panels are in. I am looking forward to seeing many furries from the state and even from out of the state attend. So what do you expect from this panel and what would be fun for us to do at this Meet and Greet?
Just a brief note from programming: it will LIKELY be at 2-3PM on Friday. The Jenga/Tetris monstrosity we know as the schedule can change continually up until the moment it goes out to the printer's. (And sometimes even after that).
