Getting some awesome feedback, and that you all for chiming in with ideas and suggestions! I aim to please, so knowing what the con goers are interested in or would like to see is always helpful.

I figured as long as I was asking for feedback, I'd show some pics of the new critters I've started making. They're a lot of fun, can be worn wrapped/draped around the neck, and are super fluffy. ^u^

2 of the 3 wyrmlings up for adoption are already claimed and on their way to new homes, and Azure will be coming to AC with me to pose and preen in the art show. But I'm definitely making more, and am in the process of 'hatching' a new batch of mini hatchling wyrms. Something small and cute to ride atop one's shoulder or perch on a fursuit ear. I figured they'd make cute little mascot/familiars, given the theme of this year's con. ;3

So, whatcha think? Any colors folks would love to see these little guys and girls in?

OK, my table, reg, and room are all confirmed for AC this year. I'm really excited, because I think the theme is going to be a lot of fun. I'm also trying to get an idea of what folks would like to see me bring along as far as merchandise for my table. This is where you all come in!

I'm something of an "Art Junkie", so what I create tends to be a broad mix of sculpture, 2-D art, costuming bits...little bit of everything, really. What I'd like to hear feedback on is what con-goers would like to see at my table this year. I'll link a few FA submissions of my artsy type items. If you all could chime in with what you like, what you love, even what you hate. I want to get a feel for how much of A,B,and C I should be pre-making to bring along. Also what species people would be interested in buying. I know the common ones are the canids (fox, wolf, husky), but what else? Any species you don't see often at cons that you would like to?

Obviously I'll be doing sketchbooks, badges and the like for the custom art. But of the other things I make, what do you guys/gals like the most/would you be interested in seeing me bring along?

Critter clips?

Chibi sculpts?

(I was thinking I could do some pre-finished, and some plain, to be custom painted like people's characters)

Jewelry?

And of course, having heard what a 'horny' bunch furries are...

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4141377/

 http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3736827/

or maybe something a tad smaller? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3424414/

Or heck, anything else in my gallery that jumps out at you and you'd like to see more of. I love feedback and suggestions, so by all means, fire away! :3

Cheers!

~D

Hmm. I don't right at the moment, but I did do one on commission for a lovely young lady for her BF, who loves Opus O. Now where'd I put that bloody link......

Ah! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4364122/ The request was for something more plain and manly, less fru fru. I'm always happy to do custom work to suit a commissioner's preferences. Though I think you might have a point. I should do a few more streamlined, masculine keys to bring with me. Thank you for the idea!

no prob, i actually like the old looking keys with the three hole handles, but would like to see darker colors, dark blues and greens and the like, but like you said, not as frilly, something that would look nice hanging from a nice sized chain

Oh, I will so be looking forward to seeing your table this year. With the critter clips, what type of animals are planned to be made? I am always looking for little chinchilla items when i go to Ac. rarely see them though.

Awwww! Chinchilla are totally adorable! Why did I never think of them??? (have a friend who desperately wants to get one as a pet. Soooo fluffy)

Pretty much a wide assortment. I'm always interested in feedback as to species people don't often see but would like to. Any other animals you fancy that don't get enough love as far as art?

*grin* Considering my furry persona is a gryphon, and my muse/mascot is a dragony-type wyrm, I'd be remiss if I didn't! ^u^ And thank you for the kind words. :3

Greetings, Ms. Walker!

Quote:
...what species people would be interested in buying. I know the common ones are the canids (fox, wolf, husky), but what else? Any species you don't see often at cons that you would like to?

While the canids, particularly the wild canids, are quite..er.."popular", you would be missing out on an opportunity if you relied on just canids.  Anthropomorphic Fandom is Pan-Species, and there is a HUGE following of the felid group, especially the Big Cats.

Tigers, Lions, Leopards, Jaguars, Cheetahs - and not necessarily in that particular order - have their adherents and advocates here.

...And an additional word about Lions - most often, when merchandise or artwork is made portraying lions, it is almost always of male African Lions.  This seems to be a default setting:  "Lion" equals creature with a mane.  While reviewing work on the Wild Cats Of The World (WCOTW) card deck, an astonishing number of artists and buyers made particular, positive remarks when the artist assigned the African Lion, chose to draw a lioness with a cub.  Illuminating moment!  Almost no merchandise depicting Lionesses!  Do yourself a favor, and if you do anything related to lions, make an equal number of the femme side of the cat, as well, I think that they will sell.

Oh - and there are a few fans of Bears, and Kangoroos have a growing and somewhat fanatical following, too.  Who doesn't like 'Roos?

Hmm. very good points! I'm a cat lover myself, and have done a variety of big cat clips before. Will definitely have to stock up on more of the kitties this year.

....?! You know what, you're right! I can't remember the last time I saw anyone draw/sculpt/depict a FEMALE lion! Shame too, since they're the ones that do most of the work! Equality for female lionesses. *nodnod*

LOL, the irony is I just finished etching a huge beer stein with a kangaroo for a commissioner. Duly noted, thank you very much for the feedback and ideas!

Binturongs. They need love too.

I actually use to run a rescue. Unfortunately couldn't handle it anymore. But I have two fluffy boys that keep me company. (They are spoiled fat chinchillas!)

Ohhhh, good one! Definitely need to break out my animals of the world book and see about looking into some of the rarer, less represented critters out there. There's so many cool species on the planet that seldom get any attention.

Heee! ^u^ They're so cute when they play in their dust baths.

Oooh, horns!  It's been ages since i've seen anyone come to make our congoers horny.  Bonus points for appealing to the side of them that's all twisted and likes to get bent!  I'm drooling over your hooves, too, and for a confirmed dragon with hard-to-please feet, that's saying something.

The keys are totally drool-worthy.

I love the clips, but i'd be afraid of knocking one off my bag on the morning train; i have a hard enough time keeping my buttons.  Any chance you could make a few with pin backs?

There are a lot of us dragons, so i definitely recommend adding us to the mix.  Personally, i's sometimes bothered me that the majority of dragons out there are portrayed pretty traditionally--enormous, frightening, dangerous, evil...Most especially the enormous part.  Every time i see an artist featuring a faerie dragon, or even just a dragon whose portrayed size is a meter or less, nose to tailtip, my heart goes pitter-pat.

Heh!

Well, as a long time D7D geek, gamer, LARPer...I love costuming. And having RP'd as a satyr many times, I needed to get a bit horny. ;3 They're fun, lightweight, and a neat costume add on to a lot of different types of characters, which is why I like making them. Multi-use accessories FTW.

Oh the hooves were SUCH a pain in the tush, but I love the end result. Definitely want to make more of them. Not nearly as bad to walk in as I had anticipated either...I made a short black pair for myself to clop around at renn faires. Given that it was very uneven ground, I was pleased with the stability and durability.

Easy as pie! I'd been planning on doing a few pin backed mini critters anyway. Hmm. Wonder if I should make them all without, and attach the clips or pins on request. That way people could chose their preference.

Eeee! I love little wee dragons too! Huge and majestic is all fine and dandy, but tiny is adorable.

Well, of course we're adorable; it's one of our major skills.  And might i add that we look especially adorable while we're raiding your kitchen for unclaimed chocolate.  I highly recommend leaving your door unlocked at night so you can catch a glimse of the cuteness as your stash zips out the front door.  Presumed innocent

First off: You're work is phenomenal! You truely are a gifted artist. The keys and jewlery and glasses are all gorgeous. But my heart squealed when I saw those chibi sculptures and the critter clips. I had a cute overload heart attack when I saw the "How to Train your Dragon Fuzzball", super cute! I will most definatly be visitng your table and hopefully will find a little critter I fall in love with.

Second: I was wondering what the price range of your items tend to be. Also what the price would be for a custom critter clip or sculpture.

Third: For animal suggestions, I agree whole-heartifly with Vulpes Rex in showing the Big Cats some love. And I also think dragon, bears, kangaroos and mythic beasts deserve love too. Also some crazy color combinations on these animals would be sweet. I'm a sucker for unnatural colored fur. Anyway, great work! Smiling

Pink grin Aww, thank you for the kind words!

Lets see if I can answer these in order. Prince range for my items ranged from $10 for some of the simple badge styles I'm working on, to $20 or $30 for polymer clay or epoxy clay critter clips, and up. I try to have a price range that allows a variety of different affordable options for people. I'm hoping to bring some stickers, keychains, and other little goodies to AC this year as well, will see how that goes. Of course, bigger things like huge costuming horns or hoof boots would be more pricey, but I am to have a bunch of $20-$30ish items as well.

Commissions for critter clips and chibi sculpts...and pretty much all of my items, actually...are the same price as a pre-made item. No extra charge for a custom, unless the character is insanely complicated. (a 2 headed, winged, armored dragoness with 6 wings, for example, wouldn't be the same $30 as a little wolf chibi sculpt would be! ^u^)

Duly noted. I have noticed the furry fandom tends to like bright colors. ;3

Wat about hybrids? I havent seen u mention anything about hybrids... We mutated animals are a big part of the fandom as well. It's hard to find a one-species fur... Well i'm an arctic fox/raven mix. I have two shiny black wings, a pair of black antennea, and an odd pattern of fur. If I can, i'll order from ya, but i'll have to see...

As a hybrid myself (gryphon, so technically feline/avian hybird), I'm all about the mixed species. Trouble with pre-making hybrids is I have no way of knowing WHAT hybrids to make! Given that this fandom has species of every mix, shape, color, and size, there's no way I have enough hours in the day to create EVERY possibly hybrid combination. Heck, 5 could sculpt from now till AC on nothing but hybrid critter clips and still not have enough time to do them all!

That said, I definitely am open for custom designs, should people have a particular species mix they want. If you end up wanting to snag a fix/raven hybrid, let me know and I'd be happy to create one for you! I can be reached at my FA page, which is http://www.furaffinity.net/user/dartjunkie/

More keys is pretty much set as this point....I just managed to snag a bunch of spiffy smaller ones from my supplier, plus I'll be bringing along more of the Asylum keys as well.

Critter clips are $20, assuming your sona' isn't insanely complicated. Would have to be a pre-order though, as the clay needs to be baked and I won't have the setup at AC to do so. You can poke at my on my FA page if you want to pre-order one for pickup at AC and avoid shipping. ^u^
