Jolly Rover - pirate dogs!
Hi all,
This is my first post here. I've just come back from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco where I was talking to people about my latest game - Jolly Rover, which is a comedic point and click adventure featuring pirate dogs, and one person mentioned I post here about it.
So, not sure if this is the right place to do it, and I'm sorry if I'm breaking any rules, but if pirate dogs is your thing and you'd like to know more about Jolly Rover, you can check it out here: http://www.brawsome.com.au/blog/index.php/games/jolly-rover/ and here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/58200 (check out the game trailer!)
Thanks,
Andrew
I am not so sure that it should count as spam.
True, it is a message about a commercial product in development or for sale - but then, other folks, usually people who are planning to attend AnthrCon as dealers, have mentioned products of their own, or sought input as to what they should sell. The only real difference here is that the individual has not mentioned making plans to attend AnthroCon as a dealer. And if he were someone wishing to make a presentation about electroic games in general, and highlight his own product, would we stop him?
The item is an anthropomorphic or "Furry" game, and it is in the games section, and there is a potential audience which might find this of great interest. I would give it the benefit of the doubt and leave it up for comment, myself...
...But I don't make or apply the rules.
I myself am not interested in such a game itself, except as a fannish artifact - but I find it very interesting that the AnthroCon Forum seems to show more and mores signs of being the "Forum of Record" for all manner of fannish communication, and not just for information directly related to AnthroCon itself. It is as though this forum is gradually taking on the role of a traditional Fan Newsletter, Fan 'zine, or -dare I suggest it - an Amateur Press Association (APA). Hard to escape that conclusion, especially with an AnthroCon presence on LiveJournal, or AnthroCon-related "tweets" on Twitter.
It is almost as though...If it's at AnthroCon, it must be "Furry"; and if it isn't at AnthroCon, then it isn't "Furry", unless or until it IS [art of AnthroCon.
Is that a Good Thing? Or a Bad Thing?
I wonder whether we'll get another influx now that Talk About Comics appears to have crashed/shut down
Sorry guys, if it's spam please take it down, or tell me to take it down. I don't mind and I don't want to be annoying anyone.
Greetings, Mr. Goulding!
From the antipodes, I see. Anthropomorphic, or "Furry" Fandom if you will, is a world-wide phenomenon. We include amongst our ranks a LOT of gamers, of both the table-top role-playing sort and afficionados of Electonic games, including the PC-based, stand-alone platform-based, and network-based, "Shared World" varieties. I'm not that big on gaming myself, but if it is based around Anthro Characters, someone here will probably appreciate the notice.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that Australia and New Zealand have contingents of rather dedicated Furry Fans, referred to collectively as the "OzFurs". While Illustration and literature are major interests across the Furry Fan Community, the OzFurs seem PARTICULARLY keen about Gaming. Their well-rounded interests in Organised Fandom include SciFi/Fantasy, Anime, Comicbook/Manga, and Gaming in General, so you will find many of them involved in key roles at conventions and gatherings dedicated to those topics, as well. There are professional game developers such as Paul Kidd, and dedicated fans/gamers such as Craig Hilton. Both were guilty responsible for developing the ALBEDO role-playing game, some years ago.
I would suggest that you might make an announcement of similar interest on the general OzFurFan Forum of "Furstralia":
...And of the principal OzFurs Furry Convention, Mid-X, held annually in Melbourne:
Good Luck!
I apologize for screaming "spam". You're not breaking the rules at all.
I get suspicious when someone's first post is an advertisement.
My apologies!
