As far as i know no animals are allowed in the Westin hotel(or at least if they are its jsut dogs or cats.. but i'm pretty sure they have a no pet policy?)
If they have a no pet policy the only reason a dog or cat would be able to get in is if they have proper identification and the like to be a service dog or cat.
The omni does allow "pets" ,but wether that includes rats i don't know. My guess is it doesn't. Usually pets allowed only refers to dogs and cats.
See if a friend will watch them. Or if your really in a fix get two huge water bottles, and get a time feeder for them. Just ask your mom to make sure the water and the food are coming out and they are ok. Clean their cage before you go and i think they'll be ok. As long as your mom is there to check they are doing ok and have water/food she doesn't need to do anything else.

The Omni penn allows only small dogs but you have to pay an extra fee. There was a lady with two small welsh terriers last year there and we asked her about the Hotel and it's pet policies out of curiosity. The westin as far as I know does not allow any pets.
Your best bet if your really concerned about your ratlings and feel like you really want to bring them, is contact the hotel you plan on staying in and inquiring to them. They would know best.
As for bringing your Ratlings into such places as the convention centre, my guess would be a no. Also it would not be wise to have them in the con itself since there really are alot of people there and bad things can happen very quickly in large groups. With that in mind, if your hotel allows the teh wee ones, you could leave them in your room in a safe place with a note to the cleaning staff to Not Touch. Also making sure that which ever type of cage they are in is very secure or possibly padlocked.
And if all of that fails and your forced to leave the ratling shome with your mom, Kitsuen has the right idea on their care if your mom is skittish of them. That or a close friend who doesnt mind them and that you trust.
Good luck to you sweets and I look forward to meeting you at AC.

*nods* If you have a friend who doesn't mind keeping an eye on them, i'd really recommend that.
Between the way the floor shifts this way and that and the stress of upheaval and the potential for carsickness, travelling long distance is, in my experience, pretty miserable for most animals. I've never met one who truly liked it, though i assume they do exist. *wrysmile*
If you're lucky, the hotel (probably the omni) will let you have them in your room, but the chances of the convention center feeling the same aren't that great. Even if they did, a full day swinging around in a carry cage does not a happy rat make. If they didn't, i imagine they'd get more attention staying at home with a like-minded friend than coming with you and seeing you only briefly in the morning and right before you collapse for the night. :=8>
All in all, judging from my memories of keeping rats, i think they'd probably have a better time just visiting a friend nearby. I'd only take them along (assuming you're allowed to) if you don't know anyone nearby who likes the little ones and you're still worried about trusting your mom.

permalinkI don't think they were planning to bring their rat into the convention center? The rats would be fine just staying in the hotel room ,if you are able to bring them, with some out time before you go to bed. I can't imagine brining them anywhere outside the hotel room?

Thank you all
*hugs* Yes I would have planned to keep them in the room (asking if the roommates were squeamish of rats first of all) if I did bring them, I am only about a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh, also moved from North Carolina to West Virginia with them and they didn't seem nervous at all and slept most of the way, otherwise I would feel the same about traveling with them. I'd say my mom could handle it, if I told her the routine and how she could feed them a little something at the top of the cage and then fill their bowls at the bottom so she wouldn't have to worry about actually touching them lol ^^ Again, thanks all
