Omni and Doubletree seem to be full, now what?
Me and a bunch of friends just regiestered for AC
But now we can't get rooms at either Omni or Doubletree, no matter what query the results it returns is the same, seems they're all full, we even made phonecalls and asked and said price didn't even matter, no luck
What other hotels are near AC?
dam i sure hope there not D:
Me and my friend have tried calling the Omni and asked and they said that they were full, we're about to call Doubletree as well.
What alternatives are there that are near AC? Someone please tell?
EDIT:
We just called doubletree and they weren't available either, the people there guided us to another hotel though and we ordered rooms there.
where is this other hotel and how much where the rooms?
The other hotel was the Hampton Inn Pittsburgh University Center
It's a little more than one mile away from the convention center so we'll have to take a cab every morning and evening.
Rates were slightly more than Doubletree and Omni, but that's because me and my friends ordered a room with a king bed and a couch that could convert to a bed because we wanted to stay in the same room so we took a big one. Rates for regular rooms are probably the same.
We appreciate the help but when we call we are told no avialability in the dates we ask for, and we already ordered a stay at another hotel. Thanks anyways.
While I suppose the situation is resolved now that you have a reservation, I should just like to drop a bit of advice in that in the future it may behoove you to lay out the problem here and actually wait to hear back from the powers that be before you jump into your next course of action.
In this case, there was still a chance Kage could have straightened out an apparent problem and you would have had a hotel room that was a mere one or two blocks away from the convention, instead of having to take a cab each day.
I believe they have that saying, "Patience is a virtue".
There's also "he who hesitates is lost"; the trick is knowing when each one is applicable, which leads to:
Good judgement comes from experience;
experience comes from bad judgement.

Good judgement comes from experience;

I like that saying :) Did you come up with that?
It's attributed to Barry LePatner.
I'm guessing you didn't attempt to reserve your room using this link: http://www.anthrocon.org/node/1654/anthrocons-hotels-please-read-reserving
Its a link found in the left sidebar here.
EDIT: Meant to be a response to Battle Franky
Hrmmm...i'm assuming you mentioned that you were coming as part of anthrocon?
We use up pretty big chunks of all of the hotels (virtually all of the westin), so they might've run out of rooms outside the room block and mistakenly reported themselves as full.
Of course, i'm sure our wise chairman has already thought of this.
I have a room with 2 double beds at the main hotel, I arrive on Friday, check out Sunday, I am looking for room mates.
My Terms are such, I want one bed to myself....I am squicky that way
1 shower a day
Each person's share of the room is due on friday
floor space is fine but no parties, no yiff
I have offered other places as well so there is no garuntee I will have space
All right, NOW the hotels are full, as announced elsewhere. The Hampton and Renaissance are stuffed full of baseball fans wanting to see the Boston Red Sox play that weekend. We're working on alternatives.
Note to Uncle Kage for next year: Since Anthrocon has to book the Convention Center years in advance but Major League Baseball only announces it's schedule months in advance, it's up to you to contact Major League Baseball and request the Pirates play out-of-town that weekend.

Awww...But the pirates love us so much! Whenever their opponents share a hotel with us, they complain about loud, boisterous furries. Poor baseball players...
LOL and were only a month and a half away from the con. Ive registered for the Omni for the dates of June 22 to the 27th, however im wondering tho on my hotel reciept, Anthrocon is not displayed under the room rate and one of the staff there dosent really know who controls the goups there when I called. Since some people live around the Pittsburgh area attend the con without hotel reserves, should I really do anything at this point? Im very positive that I mention Anthrocon when I called reservation.
You can just look at the room rate. If it is under $200 a night, you probably have the Anthrocon rate.
Beyond that, your reservation has nothing to do with the convention itself. You register to attend the con seperately, it doesn't matter if you have a hotel reservation or not.
Rakedu is right, just check the room rate. If you have the Anthrocon rate your room will be approximately $150-$160 a night including taxes. If it is not the AC room rate it will be about twice as much per night. At this point if you did not get the AC room rate there is nothing you can do to change that as all of the AC room blocks are sold out.
I just called them and they said I have the group rate lol. Tho for some reason it dosent appear on the recipt on Omnis official website, but I printed out a form showing the rate they emailed me
Wow, no wonder some of those other hotels are full to bursting. Guess I'll be staying out toward the airport this year and driving in!
FWIW, the NRA needed more than 36 hotels between Downtown and Washington, PA to handle 70,000 attendees...
70,000 attendees
*hides whimpering under couch cushions*
..oh. Wait. Not us? Okay.
I'm kinda debating something here, I want my own room but lucky i have a slot with someone already but its kinda pricey :(
I wonder if they'll open up any more Rooms, This is going to be crazy man, hella people all for a fur con, I'm ready to chill with everyone

They're not full until we announce that they are full. I'll call tomorrow and find out what is going on.
