Hello all,

Well...first of all, I'd like to say I'm a "sort of" first-time con-goer. I'm not in the sense that I have been to AC before, but I guess I am because it was a little while ago now. The last time I went was in 2003 when AC was still at the adams mark hotel (anyone remember the lifts packing up? : ) ). I'm guessing in the 4-ish years that have passed a lot must have changed since the last time I went to AC back in '03.

Anyway I have heard that the main anthrocon hotel is pretty much 100% booked up. I noticed that this site makes reference to two hotels, can anyone tell me more about the second hotel and if it is full up, and if it is then what should I do next - are there any more hotels about?

I Was just getting used to AC's old location at the adams mark and then it got pulled down x.x !

BTW, I am coming over from the UK to AC .... hopefully!

The omni is a very nice hotel.

We stayed there last year and found out time there enjoyable and quiet. It's about two blocks away from the Convention centre, but it is not a long walk and int he morning can be quite pelasant.

As for availability, last I heard they added some new rooms to the AC block so I believe they have some available. We registered our room about two weeks ago and they said they had pleanty (woah did I spell THAT wrong..I need more coffee) of room left.

The online thing I think was being wonky a bit ago. You may need to call to book your room if you go with the omni, though I hope thats not the case, UK calls are pricey.

Actually the Omni is where I stayed last year and it's pretty nice!

And if you come by greyhound bus , you can take the "T" (tram) from the bus station , get off at Steel Plaza and the hotel will be RIGHT in front of the T station.

Won't cost a thing since the T is free in the downtown area!

as I mentioned to you in a PM you could stay with me if you
need to but beware that I only have one bed so you'd have to sleep on the floor. And I guess to change my reservation to a 2 bed room I'd have to cancel it and book again...and don't
want to risk losing it due to some glitch or something.
And: I'd only be there Fri and Sat nights...

I probably will go but this yr I'm also taking a big trip to
Calif. which will drain a lot of my money...and just to make
AC I'll have to call in sick from work not that it's a big deal, and fly there...but keep me in mind if you need a room
