Anthrocon 2011 DJ selections

Hey, everyone! I'm really sorry for the long delay on this but I've been trying my best to ensure that I wind up with the best crew of DJs I possibly can, and I still new to this whole thing so it took me a while to really sort things out in my head.

Before I post this list let me say this: there were a LOT more great auditions than I had slots. That's a reality of running an event with limited time, and to further make things really tough I got to know a lot of the auditioning DJs during the course of making the selections and many of them became friends of mine, which always makes it harder to say no to them. I was REALLY impressed by many of the auditions I received, I was blown away by the creativity many DJs exhibited and pretty happy to hear that the current state of the furry DJ is better than it's ever been. It's been really hard for me to narrow this list down; there are a lot of people not on it who I think really should be. I feel terrible about that; know that I'm keeping you in mind for future cons.

If you're not on the list, please let me state again and again that it's not for lack of trying - I got so many great demos I could not possibly put all the people who impressed me on stage. I also really had to take into consideration not getting too heavy on any one kind of music and at the same time trying to keep things accessible to the non-hardcore dance crowd. I'm sure I didn't get it perfect, but I'll learn from this year and work hard to refine that balance in the years following.

When all is said and done, I think I have a great selection of DJs, but I'm definitely upset I couldn't fit more of the people who auditioned onto the roster. If you didn't make it on this year and you were someone who really impressed me, please know that I will be keeping you in mind for future cons. I'd like to get a bit more of a rotation going among the DJs so we have new things to hear every year.
